Ordinary experience with this Restaurant unfortunately. Thought it was more reasonably priced in comparison to the other Thai place in Yamba but would rather pay the extra couple of dollars to be able to finish the meal. Ordered the most safe dishes- BBQ chicken- dry and chewy, lacked flavour and had what seemed like bottled sweet chilli sauce as the main flavour, had little chicken with a heap of cabbage, cucumber and tomato which made it overpriced considering what you got. Penang beef curry- again, lacking flavour, had odd vegetables choices in it that aren’t usually in this curry like peas and carrot. The least desirable dish. Pad Thai was probably the better of the 3 but had a heap of vegetables in it, more like a Pad See Ew but with the flavour of Pad Thai. Nothing against vegetables but just don’t belong in this dish. Flavour was a bit too sweet. Just disappointing considering the nearly $80 we spent that could have been a decent meal at another place. We don’t think that price is reflected in the quality or quantity of food, not at all justified. Also, when we went to collect the take away dinner, noticed the chef eating her dinner over the main prep bench where there was utensils and food- hope it was cleaned before someone else’s meal...
Read moreWe end up in the restaurant a bit randomly when stopping in yamba in our way down to Sydney. We were curious about the good vibes of the places from the outside with an outdoors space and a beautiful tree with cozy lights on it. We decided to get in. Was a bit late but they allowed us to order some food. We ordered spring rolls, thai fried rice with chicken and yamba special. To my surprise the three of them were absolutely delicious. The rolls were tasty, crunchy and no oily at all and served with a great sauce. The yamba special was even better. Prawns, chicken a and beef all cooked to its perfection and with veggies and a tasty peanut sauce. The rice... I can only say that in my personal opinion, the best thai fried rice I ever tasted in my life. We absolutely enjoyed this meal and for a more than a reasonable price. Just a pity that we were just passing by and we won't have the chance to...
Read moreHolidaying in Yamba and decided to have Thai. Found the Payu Restaurant. We ordered a Yamba Special, Chicken Pad Thai, and Special Fried Rice with chicken for takeaway. We walked up from the caravan park, and when we walked in, we knew that this was the place to get Thai. Wonderfully decorated restaurant complete with an outdoor deck, clean and spacious. We got our meal right on time and came back to the van. The meals were delicious and ample amount of each. It was full of flavour and looked good as well. We will most definitely be having this again we we are next in Yamba again. My only suggestion is that maybe 4 prawn in the Yamba Special instead of 3, this makes it an even share between 2 people. 🤭 Great...
