Atmosphere and service here were great, no complaints about them. Had three different margaritas between us - the mezcalita, a spicy cucumber one and the classic, all of which were very tasty so top marks there. The food itself was just ok. We started with some nachos that tasted decent but suffered the common issue where you run out of topping very quickly and are then left with lots of dry tortilla chips to munch through. Then we had the bbq pork and fish tacos, both of which tasted fine but lacked flavour and were overpowered by the amount of salad and mayo put on top. This combined with a wheat flour tortilla that was cold and too large for the amount of filling made it seem like there wasn't a great deal of care or thought put into their construction. I get that it's supposed to be fusion food but if you include 'taqueria' in your name you could at least try and get the mexican part right. The comments in other reviews about it being "authentic mexican food" seem wild to me, especially considering pretty much everything on the menu is fused with another cuisine or culture. Given the lack of diverse eating options in bad gastein (its a small alpine town I get it) I would recommend trying this place, but don't expect to be transported to anywhere...
Read moreSo we went here for a dinner with my wife, who has vegan diet - seemed like a good idea looking at their menu. In the end we left with mixed feelings, but generally bad ones. The staff tried their best to act nice, which is cool. But they also acted quite unprofessionally and confused all the time. Also they had no idea what "vegan" means - but that's a minor issue. We ordered an appetiser and a main dish. The appetiser was a fried cauliflower which we love. However 10EUR for about 100g of cauliflower is a killer (see picture) Then we had tacos as main. These were ok - really just OK, yet again quite pricy for what you get. I wouldn't describe it as "Fantastic" like some other reviewers. We had to wait for almost an hour for the meals to come and the main dish only came once we asked for its whereabouts. The place looked cool and if I just came for a couple drinks, might be quite a different story. Bottomline - meh, I won't...
Read moreSuper atmosphere, kind crew. The super friendly Swedish people of MEX make this place a ‘Go To!’. The menu offers all kinds of options for meatloavers and vegetarians. We were dining with our 4-year old son and most options were possible to serve non-spicy. On request they made me a delicious virgin cocktail. Outside on the terrace you enjoy the amazing mountain views and atmosphere of Bad Gastein. Inside it feels like you’re teleported to buzzing Mexico-City. I loved everything about this place: the people, the food, the atmosphere. Will definitely come back. (Don’t worry about the Swedish, they speak...
