STREETS by el Gaucho — Restaurant in Graz

This “restaurant/bar/bistro”, whatever this is, is not what you’d expect in a beautiful town like Graz. You would expect something with character and charm representing the Austrian culture. Not only is that missing but also the service and the food are below any standard I’ve experienced during my stays in Austria so far. If you have to wait 10 minutes at a place with only 6 other guests and 4 of them already served is a first for me. After we finally ordered for 3 people (drinks, appetizers and entrées), it took them and now wait for it, 34 minutes, yes we were watching the time after 20 minutes of waiting, to bring out the drinks and the appetizers, the entrées followed about 5 minutes after the appetizers arrived, not the way it’s supposed to be. The food was bland but overall ok but definitely not worth the money. The waiters and waitresses seemed very snooty as if they are better than everybody else.

My verdict/tip is - If you take someone out in Graz, go to some little places in downtown of Graz in the cute little alleys and you’ll find food, people would love to pay more for because it is actually delicious and you feel welcome there. This place is for “wanna be rich” people and...

A pretty cool experience in an otherwise rather boring city!

Get a table where you can watch the cooks and get their homemade lemonade. It's really fun.

The food itself isn't quite what I was hoping for, but the selection is very unique and the food is by all means not bad, it's pretty good! Just not "quite" what I thought it could be. E.g., the burger is good and all, but the patty is pretty dense, almost like there are fillers added. And in addition, it's spiced, which I personally don't enjoy (maybe it's a British thing?).

The prices are high for Graz standards, but the quality is well worth it.

Still, I can't give any less than 5 stars and recommend going...

Urbanes Lokal mit Wohlfühlfaktor und etwas Potential nach oben ;)

Das kleine Lokal hat wirklich viel zu bieten. Es gibt eine große Auswahl an Speisen, es ist also für jeden etwas dabei. Egal ob man nur Finger Food zum Getränk oder ein ganzes Dinner möchte. Es gibt auch den einen oder anderen Cocktail den ich als Geheimtipp aufzeigen würde (Spicy Martini oder so ähnlich ;) ). Leider kommt es vor, dass bei hoher Kundenanzahl die Getränke länger brauchen und auch die Qualität etwas leidet. Das Essen auch etwas zu kühl an den Tisch kommt. Hier könnte man noch etwas besser koordinieren um durchgehen den selben hohen Standard aufrechtzuerhalten. Das Personal ist äußerst freundlich und kompetent, sehr bemüht einen schönen Aufenthalt zu garantieren. Manchmal vielloeicht sogar etwas zu sehr. In Summe ist der Service aber wirklich hervorragend. Das Ambiente ist wirklich angenehm, es gibt verschiedene Sitzmöglichkeiten und selbst die Stühle ohne Lehne sind bequemer als in manch anderem Lokal. Besonders die Dinner Ecke und die orientalische Ecke lädt zu längerem Verweilen ein. Bei vollem Lokal wird es schon an manchen Stellen enger. Die Lage des Lokals ist natürlich zukunftsorientiert, da der ganze Stadtteil im entstehen ist. Momentan ist die Verbindung noch etwas schwierig. Preislich ist das Angebot ok, kein Schnäppchen, aber auch nicht überteuert. Die Mittagsmenüs sind wirklich ausgezeichnet, auch im Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Besonders gefallen würde mir die Installation eines Barbereiches an dem man auch stehend ein Bier oder einen Cocktail trinken kann während man wartet, der Bereich der Getränkeausgabe wirkt etwas chaotisch, hier sehe ich noch Potential eine kleine nette Barecke zu gestalten. Bei Abenden mit vielen Reservierungen wäre ein Schild beim Eingang hilfreich, sodass man nicht im Lokal herumirrt.
