This was hands-down the best meal I had during my entire trip to Austria! I ordered the extraordinarily spicy pork schnitzel—one of the hottest dishes I’ve ever eaten—and yet it still managed to be incredibly flavorful. The portion size was huge, served with an equally generous helping of perfectly seasoned potato salad. The lingonberry jelly on the side was a lovely touch that balanced everything out beautifully.
What truly set the experience apart, though, was the outstanding service. Our server delivered some of the best hospitality I’ve ever encountered—warm, hilarious, and multilingual, cracking jokes and lifting our spirits throughout the meal. She also gave fantastic recommendations for my meal, and we left feeling thoroughly taken care of.
We walked in on a packed Thursday night, and even with the crowd, they found a way to seat us. I’d recommend calling ahead to reserve a table and bringing cash, as they don’t accept cards.
They also keep a wall of postcards in the entryway. Be sure to bring one to add to their collection if you’re...
Read moreAs a passionate culinary traveler, walking into Burenwirt feels like being embraced by Innsbruck’s soul—where rustic charm and hearty Austrian tradition are served with a smile. Surrounded by warm wood, glowing lanterns, and the gentle hum of shared laughter, I sampled the iconic Steirer Schnitzel—a golden marvel—paired with tangy potato salad and a crisp, local beer. My friend’s pork knuckle with sauerkraut and dumplings radiated homestyle richness, while the pumpkin-crusted schnitzel offered a delightful, seasonal surprise. The vegetarian cheese dumplings were comforting and generously portioned. Service was genuinely warm—friendly, attentive, and effortlessly welcoming. With its welcoming ambiance, nostalgic dishes, and heartfelt hospitality, Burenwirt isn’t just a dinner—it’s Innsbruck in every bite. Be sure to bring cash and book ahead—you’ll leave full, cozy, and...
Read moreAbsolutely the best traditional Tirolean restaurant I've been to in the 8 years I've lived here.
The restaurant itself is neat and well presented, with traditional decorative charm, without being too Kitsch.
Service is prompt, friendly and welcoming, even if there's no website it will always get busy through word of mouth, so booking is recommended.
The best bit however, is the food... I've been here a few times over the years and this never changes... It's absolutely mouthwateringly good quality, cooked with only the best ingredients, and turns up in portions so huge they defy the reasonable price.
It's absolutely perfect after a hard day's skiing or hiking on the mountains, but make sure you've got a big appetite, as you won't want to leave a single crumb behind.
Looking forward to...
