Chinarestaurant Peking — Restaurant in Politische Expositur Gröbming

We were the only ones in the restaurant but we didn't let that put us off. We ordered our food and a bottle of red to accompany it. We had spring rolls and deep fried ribs to start with. The spring roll came out like a doughy sandwich filled with bits of fried pork mince and the usual spring roll filling. The ribs were not meaty and has no flavour but they did have a soy and garlic sauce to pour on them. We ordered mains with rice and vegetables noodles. The chicken szechaun was not spicy at all just very salty as was the beef and vegetable dish. The meat was also very poor quality.

During the whole time we were sat at our table the staff were on their phones playing games and watching stuff. The volume was so loud and very distracting for us trying to enjoy an evening out. I did look at the lady behind the bar and she moved. She was playing a game winning or collecting coins as that's all we could hear. They also had football on loud on the TV.

When we paid for our bill we pointed out the picture of the spring rolls (normal small sized ones) and we're told that we had ordered spring roll which was different to the picture. They also said that the menus are printed in Vienna. Surely they should be in line with the description?

Food was very oily, oil collected at the bottom of the dish like, which could be scooped by a spoon. Portion was large, but I couldn't eat it - it made me sick (the disproportionate amount of oil). It felt bland, and flavour less. I visited this restaurant based on Google reviews, on 28.05.2025 at around 8.30pm (I was in town for the ÖOG conference 2025). The restaurant was completely empty and I was the only person there. I asked if it was open, and went inside. I placed my order - something was amiss, the chef was angry and shouting with 2 other workers inside. The food came - I took a bite and realised it was bland, there was no balance of flavours, and very very oily. I called the person at the counter and told him politely, that I am ready to pay and leave but the oil was too much. They took the noodles, drained the oil and returned with a "new portion".
