Buffalino Vienna — Restaurant in Vienna

After Edelmann has sadly left that place we thought to try out that new restaurant. We haven’t been spending too much time there because after reading through the menu my first impression was: SHOCK!! The prices are extraordinary high! Focaccia 4,90E (which is just a little snack), noodle soup 9,90E, Pizzas start far above 10E, Tiramisu 12E and so on and so forth! Guess what, they not even welcome you with table clothing or couvert, nothing! I’m ready to pay high prices for food, but then they have to offer at least silver cutlery! The Pizza chef looks like an under 20 years old boy, doing takeaway service for some waiting clients, the entire staff is really very young, which is not bad, but i couldn’t connect the dots here between high prices and obvious rich restaurant experience. And the staff btw doesn’t speak german, only english or russian (which is their native language as they are Ukrainians). And that’s also fine, but it looks like an extremely weird concept, announcing the best pizzas in Vienna, when you read through some recent reviews, but having not a single one italian staff working there. Seems the reviews were mostly written by their ukrainian staff. As long as they will not stop that rip off with that high pricing concept i will leave that place for Ukrainian Oligarchs to have fun there and waste there money. Sorry, no-go for me! Maybe I should try their subsidiary in Kiev where the run a similar place. Edelmann please take...

Disorganized, Unprofessional, and Disappointing Experience

We came here specifically for a Minecraft workshop that had been confirmed via email. Everything was arranged, or so we thought. When we arrived, not only was the workshop canceled without anyone informing us, but they didn’t even have our reservation on the list.

The host couldn’t have been less interested in the situation. She casually mentioned they had two birthday parties starting soon and told us to sit outside in 13°C windy weather, promising a table inside in 15 minutes. Completely unacceptable.

After waiting, a waiter finally came to take our order, but the communication between staff was as bad as the service. First, he brought plates for us to eat outside, not knowing we were supposed to move inside. Then, two other servers came with our food, clearly unaware of what was going on.

In the end, we had no choice but to eat outside in the cold since our kids were already frustrated by the canceled workshop and now starving. The food was decent, but ridiculously overpriced for such a remote location. This in no way makes up for the shockingly poor service.

Frankly, the experience was a disaster from start to finish. We expected a fun, organized event for the kids and instead got disorganized...

Bemüht - aber unkoordiniert. Die, zugegeben noch junge, Servicekraft welche die Bestellungen aufgenommen und notiert hat, mußte noch einmal nachfragen ob alles richtig wäre. War es leider nicht. Wenn sie nicht so schnell schreiben kann, sollte sie die Gäste langsamer befragen. Langsam (und wohl auch unkoordiniert) war auch die Küche. Die letzte Hauptspeise kam, als die zuerst gekommene schon zu 2/3 verspeist war. Pizzamesser gab es erst auf Nachfrage - und auch dann erst eines nach dem anderen, anstatt alle Pizzaesser zeitgleich auszurüsten. Zu Beginn stand auf jedem Platz eine Art Platzteller allerdings als Platzteller zu klein - in diesem Fall wohl eher Platzhalter, denn bei keiner Speise blieb dieser Teller stehen. Die wurden allerdings nicht bei der Bestellung abgeräumt (als eigentlich klar war das sie nicht gebraucht werden) sondern erst als die Speisen kamen im Austausch für die Speiseteller was entsprechend unkoordiniert ablief. Die Speisen selber waren okay bis gut. Leider waren die Teller nicht vorgewärmt. Zur Karaffe mit Wasser zum Café gab es dann keine frischen Gläser dazu. Auch für Biertrinker nicht. Das mit Schürzen (Dienstlleidung) bekleidete Personal war leicht zu unterscheiden von den (Junior? / Möchtegern-) Chefitäten, wo sie in Minirock mit Stöckelschuhen und er in Jogginghosen herumgelaufen ist und sich wichtig gemacht haben. Dazwischen kam auch sogar das Küchenpersonal zum servieren... Wo war dann das Servierpersonal oder wenigstens die Hobbychefs?

Als es dann an das bezahlen ging und die Frage ob alles zusammen oder einzeln gab es rollende Augen auf den Wunsch: jeder zahlt seins. Anscheinend ist dem Kellner nicht bewusst das er in einem solchen Fall mehr Trinkgeld bekommt als wenn alles gesamt gezahlt wird. Aber vielleicht müssen sie das Trinkgeld auch in eine gemeinsame Kasse zahlen was ja nur fair wäre. Oder die rollenden Augen waren darauf zurückzuführen das er nicht rechnen konnte, denn nach Getränk, Speise & Kaffee verschwand er immer ums Eck - vermutlich um den Taschenrechner zu nutzen. Barzahlung war dann das nächste Problem denn Inkasso hatte er keines. Also wieder ums Eck verschwunden und mit dem Wechselgeld retour. Eine ordnungsgemäße Quittung gab es dann auch nicht. Nur die Gesamtrechnung die aber bemalt, bekringelt und gestrichen war und nicht ausgehändigt wurde.

Fazit: Ambiente (=Einrichtung) gut, Essen okay bis gut, aber unorganisiert bis chaotisch - anscheinend ohne klar zugeordnete Verantwortlichkeiten.

Vielleicht in ein, zwei Jahren wieder mal - aber...
