Update after going a second time: I changed my food rating to 3 stars. I got the same dish (eggs Benedict) this second time, but the eggs were severely undercooked. The egg whites were still semi clear and runny. The egg was not poached. The hollandaise sauce was very light with no flavor. I prefer a buttery lemony hollandaise. This was like a light cream sauce and not enough sauce, IMO. They do give generous amounts of avocado, though.
Lovely Cafe with a nice selection of breakfast and lunch items. Nothing fussy or complicated. Simple but elegant choices. I've heard the quiche is great but I tried the Benedict and it was very good. You can choose between sour dough or Brioche for your base and avocado, ham, or lachs on top. I got lachs on Brioche, and it also came with avocado. The hollandaise sauce was very mild and not lemony tangy like I'm used to and prefer. But it was still very good. I'll have to come back again to try the other dishes. We made reservations and I recommend that. We sat outside on a lovely day. 😍 great service,...
Read moreI visit this café regularly when I visit Vienna. Unfortunately the last two visits were so terrible that I will not return. The last time we visited with a group of friends was a couple of weeks ago, no one even noticed us for 20 minutes, then an unpleasant waitress came (a tall dark-haired girl with a ponytail, Slovak as we later found out). It was clear that we were bothering the lady with our orders. She was very reluctant and unpleasant. My friend asked if they could make her a drink that was not on the menu, to which she was answered "do you see it on the menu? no. So we don't have it". I don't know if the lady was just having a bad day or has a bad life in general, but I hope she doesn't ruin the lives of others and goes to psychotherapy. And by the way, one of my friends was Slovak and she understood the vulgarity when she was told that the lady wouldn't get a tip. Terrible behavior. The owners should think carefully about who they employ and if it's worth...
Read moreCafé Friedl is an absolute gem in Döbling! The cozy atmosphere makes it the perfect spot to unwind, whether you’re catching up with friends or enjoying a quiet moment with a book. It’s wonderfully child-friendly too — with a small play corner and child seats. We live in the neighborhood and come here often for brunch or coffee and cake. The chocolate cake is to die for (my daughter does not even share with me it is so good). The food is delicious and freshly prepared, with something for everyone. From hearty breakfasts to tempting cakes, everything we have tried was excellent. Highly recommend this charming café for anyone looking for a warm, inviting place with great food and...
