Café IIN — Restaurant in Vienna

We were lucky to be staying right opp the cafe. Loved this little cafe. Everything is done so meticulously. The owners are warm and welcoming. They speak and understand English so it was easy for us to communicate with them. The food was outstanding. We tried their bread with banana, peanut butter and walnuts. The avocado toast was also fab so was their cheese toast. Loved loved loved the verbena rose mint tea in this cold weather. The desserts that we tried were so good that although we done with the meal we still indulged and packed some tea and cakes to go. The carrot cake was the best I have ever eaten. The most moist cake with perfect amount of frosting. We also loved their Mocha cake. Overall we loved the way both the hosts passionately prepare the meals that each plate looked like a work of art. We first saw the cafe owners in a movie in Berlinale. Then when we visited Vienna, we thought we have to find their café. It is a gem in the 17th district. The interior has beautiful design. We were delighted to see the Berlinale poster on the wall. The ambience is very pleasant and you get super delicious home made cake (the carrot cake is amazing and the vegan blueberry taste brings back childhood memories) and listen to well picked music or even live jam sessions. Café IIN is a hidden gem: Easy to miss b/c it’s not the most-frequented street, but the place serves the best Viennese Coffee around. Delicious homemade cakes too.

Run by a lovely Iranian couple who pour heart and soul into the place — and you can tell from all the little details that make this place special, from music to theatre masks on the walls etc. (they have a directing and acting background).
