Das Campus — Restaurant in Vienna

I used to love this restaurant but haven't been there in a while. I treated my son and girlfriend to a celebratory lunch yesterday 9 August, 2022, and was dismayed and shocked at how prices have increased yet food quality nothing like it was before "Covid". Either it's under new management or, they're cutting costs and hired a new (bad) cook. Even the gormer professional serving staff are no longer there. I ordered a kind of flatbread which bore no resemblance to the description. I was served a hard rectangular kind of pita - almost like matzo with a minimal spread of avocado, a few slices of maximum ONE radish, and a few cashew nuts. Cost? €15.00!! It was impossible to cut or fold, so I asked the rather shabily dressed waitress for a steak (serated) knife. "Sorry, we don't have any". Huh? So I sent the food back, and ordered a cauliflower "steak" - basically a greasy fried slice of cauliflower, served with sweet potato fries - also €15.00. Shame on...

We went for the famous brunch and had a very good time. The waiting staff are very forthcoming and welcoming, have your fresh orange juice ready even before you take a seat. Very spacious and does not feel too crowded. The selection has plentiful options and are quite tasty. From classic breakfast options (continental as well as regional), to a full-out sweets section, complete with chocolate fountain. There are yoghurts, cereals, soups, ready-made breads (on that note - Öfferl Brot!!) and for the lunch part even had 3 different hot options. Drink-wise we had teas, coffees, juices and soft drinks, can't speak to spirits, we skipped those. Wanna grab a bite or some beers in a cozy atmosphere near the exhibition center and the "viertel 2"? then you are good to go for this nice and solid restaurant on the university of economics campus. Food (burger)was tasty, it came with mayo as a standard which is not for everyone, but you can also choose other sauces. The service was considerate most of the time, fast and friendly. The venue was not full, I could imagine if it is, the noise level will rise quite substantially. Finally the price point is not low, a cheese burger with bacon will set you back 19€. So all in all it's not a steal, you will get decent food and decent beers for a location premium set in a university atmosphere. If you are up for that, I can definitely...
