Müllers Heuriger & Weingut — Restaurant in Vienna

How this place has above 4 star average rating?! I don’t know!!! We had the house wine: super acid! But OK, wine is all about personal preferences so we moved on. The food came, we had Fleischlaberl and Surschnitzel with Kartoffelsalat. We have had these at many other restaurants before. The Fleischlaberl had an intensiveness and saltiness in the flavor that could only be achieved by flavor enhancers. The Surschnitzel had no air pockets in the dough (shows no real mastery of the Austrian Schnitzel cuisine) plus the meat was quite tough. The potatoe salad was watery and with no flavor. Very sad experience compared to all the good things about it. Maybe we had an unlucky day where the chef was not here?

Der Service war wirklich sehr freundlich, die Location charmant und der Wein lecker sowie preislich absolut in Ordnung. Aber das Essen – insbesondere die sogenannte “Käseplatte” – war eine absolute Frechheit. 18,50 € für einen kleinen Teller mit lieblos hingeklatschten Käsestücken ist schlichtweg dreist.

So einen Teller würde ich mir zuhause in zwei Minuten zusammenstellen – und dann fast 20 € dafür zu verlangen? Eine echte Sauerei! Auch im Vergleich zu den anderen Gerichten war das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis einfach nicht tragbar.

Dazu kamen die Dips, die wir ebenfalls bestellt hatten. Auf den Fotos bei Google Maps sahen sie schön angerichtet aus – bei einem Preis von 12–13 € hatten wir dementsprechend eine gewisse Qualität erwartet. Was wir bekamen, war geschmacklich okay, aber absolut nichts Besonderes. Wenn sie hausgemacht sind, lässt sich der Preis vielleicht ansatzweise erklären – aber für diese Portion war es dennoch klar überteuert.

Besonders irritierend war auch, dass man uns – freundlich, das muss man sagen – angeboten hat, noch etwas Brot zu bekommen, weil wir noch Dip übrig hatten. Wir waren zu dritt und hätten bei dem hohen Preis mindestens drei Stücke erwartet. Gekommen ist ein Stück Brot und das Endstück. Ganz ehrlich – bei Preisen wie 18,50 € ist das einfach nur kleinlich.

Was uns aber wirklich am meisten schockiert hat, war die sogenannte “Käseplatte”.

Allein wegen dieser maßlos überzogenen und respektlosen Preisgestaltung würde ich definitiv nicht...

Great restaurant, with cosy atmosphere, in a peaceful district of Vienna. We tried 3 dishes, all of which were very tasty, and of course despite the dishes were pretty large we couldn't leave without strudel with vanile sause! Local wine was a perfect addition to the food, really special, liked it too. Not less important that here you will find super friendly stuff, which will make your stay a real pleasure. Absolutely recommended to have a nice rest at this place...
