Zeng’s has the potential to be one of the best places in the area but they are very inconsistent. I live quite close and have eaten there several times over the last 4 years the quality of the food went from consistently good to more consistently different no matter the dish. You can get the same dish on separate days and it looks and tastes different. Like the chefs don’t actually have a recipe but are cooking the same dishes in their own way. Either it is very good or terrible. When it is good it is phenomenal though. The curry is great one day and then the next it seems like they had one serving of sauce left but needed enough for two so they watered it down to stretch into the second serving. I’ve done experiments to see if it was a certain time of the day that the food is better because some restaurants take food that didn’t sell last night and serve it first thing the next day but that doesn’t seem to be the case. But second time got totally screwed ordering Szechuan Nu Rou (Chinese boiled beef) and got a joke of a stir fry in soy sauce with broccoli. (Zero stars no drama)
If I wanted a stir fry I would have gotten Mongolian beef or gone to Panda Express. This is the equivalent of ordering paprika huhn and getting McDonald’s Szechuan sauce.
