Sägewerk Wien — Restaurant in Vienna

Trying to find the balance between a bar and a restaurant, the "Sägewerk" (Sawmill) offers a selection of simple dishes like pizza, pasta, scrambled eggs or toast you can individualize with a variety of ingredients. While the idea is nice, the quality varies between the dishes offered. The Pizza is good, while the burger patties are made from frozen meat, which in my opinion is a no-go, because it feels sort of chewy and tastes a little bland. The ingredients are cut the same way for all dishes, so no matter whether you're eating pizza or pasta, the onions are rings and the bacon ist sliced in stripes... While all the personnel are friendly, the selection of drinks could be improved, especially concerning spirits and alcoholic beverages. First of all, they speak English and they didn’t judge us with their attitude because we didn’t speak German. We had a great lunch. Two guys, who were greeted and served us, were smiling and friendly. They made a detailed explanation about menu before we asked for it. They offered us cushions for the chair. We ordered pizza and pasta. The food was just delicious and portions were big. After terrible disappointments in some other restaurants, this place was just like a gem. Worth the money, comparing what we saw before. If you don’t want to be treated like unwanted tourists and want to get stuffed with delicious food paying less, you must definitely come here. We like to regularly come with a big group after rehearsals and shows, as they serve food until late and the Bausatzsystem makes sure everyone can find something they like on the menu. Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free (i think?), none of that is a problem as you choose the ingredients yourself. The beer selection is good, I like that they've got cider on tap. If I know we'll stay longer I get a Saftbausatz, which is essentially a free-refill on cordial drinks. The food can be a bit salty sometimes, and depending on where you sit the music is a bit loud, but ever since you can't smoke inside anymore we just stay in the front bit, where it's a bit quieter.
