Stadthallenbräu — Restaurant in Vienna

I ordered the suckling pig, but honestly, the dish should be called “potatoes with suckling pig.” The portion of potatoes was massive, while the meat felt like an afterthought. The pig itself tasted great, and I understand that it’s an expensive meat, but the dish as advertised is somewhat misleading.

The potato salad was good, and I liked the onions, but they were just sprinkled on top rather than fully mixed in — the onions help bring the flavors together, so it needs more integration.

Unfortunately, the side salad that came with the suckling pig was awful; I had to spit it out immediately because it tasted rancid.

The apple strudel was delicious, though they forgot the vanilla sauce. Since this was a delivery order, that was disappointing.

I also tried calling ahead to inform the restaurant of my allergies, but the call kept failing — it would get an automated answer and then disconnect. Thankfully, none of my allergies were an issue with the dishes I received. It is frustrating not being able to communicate with them though. (Foodora did not allow me to either.)

I’m sharing this feedback in the spirit of helping improve the dining experience. I understand that running a restaurant is challenging, and my intention is not to offend, but to provide honest observations that may be useful for future service and dish...

Good day to all! Together with my family we visited this wonderful establishment. We were warmly greeted by the waiter Mario. We do not know German, and with English not everything is so rosy. Mario was ready to serve us, took the phone, launched the translator and with its help we easily made an order. So, about the dishes that we tried. The soup is a very aromatic broth with 2 large meatballs. We ordered a traditional Austrian schnitzel, it was brought to us with tender, diced boiled potatoes with herbs, lemon. The third dish was French fries. The portions are so huge that having ordered one each, they were enough for three of us. We did not even manage to finish the French fries and Mario packed them for us to take with us on the road. My wife and son really liked the mocha coffee and apple strudel. There was not the slightest complaint about any of the dishes, everything was incredibly delicious. A huge thank you to Mario who served us. I recommend everyone to visit this place. Доброго часу доби всім! Разом із сім'єю відвідали цей чудовий заклад. Нас привітно зустрів офіціант Маріо. Ми не знаємо німецької мови, та й з англійською не все так райдужно. Маріо був готовий обслужити нас, взяв телефон, запустив перекладач і за його допомогою ми з легкістю зробили замовлення. Отже, про страви, які ми покуштували. Суп - це дуже ароматний бульйон із 2 великими м'ясними кульками. Замовили традиційний австрійський шніцель, його нам принесли з ніжною, шматочками відвареною картоплею із зеленню, лимоном. Третьою стравою була картопля фрі. Порції настільки величезні, що замовивши по одній нам вистачило їх на трьох. З картоплею фрі ми навіть не впоралися і Маріо запакував нам його з собою в дорогу. Дружині та синові дуже сподобалась кава мокко та яблучний штрудель. До страв не виникло жодної претензії, все було дуже смачно. Велике дякую Маріо, який нас обслуговував. Раджу всім...

We had dinner at Stadthallenbräu on our first night in Vienna, and it became one of the best meals of our trip!

The Wiener Schnitzel was huge and delicious, the goulash was rich and tender, and even the potatoes on the side were amazing. We also loved the non-alcoholic Austrian beer 🍻

But what made it really special was Mario-san! He was so kind, explained the menu in detail, and even took lots of photos of us. Thanks to him, we now have some wonderful memories (and photos!) from this evening.
