I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mader in Vienna, and I must say it was an exceptional experience that deserves nothing short of five stars! From the moment I walked in, the cozy ambiance and warm hospitality set the stage for an unforgettable evening.

Let's talk about the star of the show – the schnitzel. Oh, what a delight! Mader has truly mastered the art of schnitzel perfection. The dish was not only generously portioned but also boasted a crispy, golden exterior that gave way to tender, flavourful meat. Each bite was a symphony of textures and tastes, leaving my taste buds in pure ecstasy.

The waitstaff at Mader added an extra layer of enjoyment to the evening. Their humor and distinctly Viennese charm created an atmosphere that felt both welcoming and authentic. It was evident that they took pride in ensuring every guest had a memorable time. Their recommendations were spot-on, and their friendly banter added a delightful touch to the entire dining experience.

What truly stood out, however, was the unexpected interaction with the owner. Not only did they take the time to greet guests personally, but they also joined us for a round of snaps, enhancing the sense of community and camaraderie. This personal touch made us feel like more than just customers – it felt like dining with friends.

All in all, Mader in Vienna is a gem that encapsulates the essence of Austrian hospitality. The combination of mouthwatering schnitzel, lively waitstaff, and an owner who goes above and beyond to connect with patrons makes this restaurant a must-visit. Visited Wednesday July 26, 2023. Service was very poor. For such a nice looking place I would like to write a good review but I cannot. The front bar and eating area was full. We were shuffled to a rear room with 2 other tables occupied. After a few minutes the waitress literally threw two menus on the table. My companion and I looked at each other and laughed. Waitress did not talk or offer to take a drink order. We waited several more minutes. I noticed no one on the other tables had drinks or food. A man walked in, he had the air of "the boss" talked to some obvious friends, then dissapeared through a door and the room lights came on. Went back to his friends. Ultimately we got up and left. There seemed to be only the one waitress doing bar service and meal orders. If that was indeed the boss, he needs to think about...

Eigentlich haben wir uns gefreut, endlich eine qualitativ ansprechende Pizza in der Nähe zu haben und waren gestern testen. Leider müssen wir auch in Zukunft die Pizza in der Ferne suchen, das war leider gar nix.

Gleich beim Kommen ist aufgefallen, dass das Servicepersonal recht gestresst schien. Das blieb auch den ganzen Abend so, warum weiß ich nicht, das Lokal war innen leer und draußen auch nicht alle Tische besetzt, einige davon hatten schon gegessen, einige aßen gerade, also nicht sooo viel Aufwand, könnte man meinen. Ich hab selbst nie in der Gastronomie gearbeitet und höchsten Respekt vor der Arbeit, wäre aber schon der Meinung gewesen, 12 Tische wären zu zweit machbar. Naja, jedenfalls haben wir da schon damit gerechnet, dass die Pizza dauern würde und deswegen mal Bruschetta als Vorspeise bestellt, ein paar Tomaten zerkleinern und auf getoastetes Brot klatschen würde sicher schnell gehen und dann hätten wir zumindest mal was im Magen. Leider nein, nach 50 Minuten war noch immer nix da, während andere deutlich nach uns bestellt hatten und immerhin schon essen durften. Das Servicepersonal drauf angesprochen kam nur, dass sie ja nicht die Küche sei und das halt viel los sei (?). Meiner Meinung nach ist das nunmal das harte Los des Servicepersonals, mit Kritik entsprechend umzugehen und sowas in der Küche nachzufragen, ich kann ja schwer selbst in die Küche gehen und fragen. Aber wie gesagt…

Kurz darauf kamen dann sowohl Bruschetta als auch Pizzen gleichzeitig, dazu kam kein Kommentar, nur dass halt viel los sei. Also schnell Bruschetta runterschlingen weil sonst die Pizza kalt wird.

Die Pizzen selbst waren jetzt auch nicht die Sensation die man sich von Pizzerien von dem Schlag (Mari, Disco, Sofi, etc) erwarten würde. Außen verbrannt und innen leicht roh, die Pizza mit Rucola hatte eher gemischten Salat drauf, Rucola nur in Spuren. Vor allem die bitteren Salatblätter haben da einfach gar nicht gepasst. Geschmacklich generell eher enttäuschend für den Preis. Zudem mussten wir die Pizzen dann aufgrund von Zeitstress einpacken lassen…

Alles in allem ein wirklich enttäuschendes Erlebnis, auch wenn das Ambiente sonst nett war werden wir in Zukunft wieder in die Nachbarbezirke für entsprechende Pizza...
