Dear Ströck Management,
Every time we come to this Ströck on a Sunday, the service is awful—and after today, it’s probably the last time we’ll visit.
There is a waitress, named Evelyn, who is consistently mean to us. Today, we wanted to sit at a table with no reservation sign, and she immediately rushed over, saying that it was reserved. She said everything was booked except for the worst place in the café, and that we had no other option. A few minutes later, a better table became free. When we asked about moving, she said that on Sundays, you have to reserve.
Then, a group of Austrians arrived—clearly without a reservation, as they asked where they could sit—and she welcomed them warmly, smiling and guiding them to the same “reserved” tables we were denied. This is not the first time we’ve been treated this way. It’s always the same story: she’s friendly and helpful to Austrians, but cold and dismissive to us. She pretends not to see us, ignores us, and we often have to wait for another staff member to take our order.
We strongly believe this treatment is because we are not Austrians and do not speak perfect German. It feels discriminatory, and it ruins the experience completely.
We would like to remind you that under Austria’s Equal Treatment Act (Gleichbehandlungsgesetz), discrimination based on ethnic origin or language in the provision of goods and services—such as in restaurants—is illegal. If this pattern of treatment continues, or if no steps are taken to address it, we will consider submitting a formal complaint to the Equal Treatment Ombudsperson...
Read moreToday was our second time in this particular bakery. The first time was very enjoyable, the lady serving us was very sweet and friendly and we thought we found a great place for weekend breakfast and lunch. But today the difference in service was huge. My husband (whose German is pretty good) ordered his meal and it was my turn. I feel like here I need to make an important remark that my German is not great. So when I hesitated a moment looking for a name of the dish the woman who served our table just turned away and went to another table!.. No explanation, no comments, just gone. She then goes to several other tables and only comes back 5 minutes later to listen to the end of my order. Like nothing happened. Later on when bringing the order she only speaks to my husband and never looks back at me like I'm not there. It made me feel unimportant...
Read moreI bought an Extrawurst semmel, a Krapfen and a Bio Traubensaft at 7:30~
The Semmel was very dry, which disappointed me a lot, but the Krapfen and juice were jummy
Since I almost always got breakfast there, I also want to say, that on multiple occasions, my Semmel was ice cold and VERY unpleasant. Like it had been stored in a fridge until 10 minutes ago. The inconsistency is one of the reasons I don't buy breakfast that often there anymore. Sometimes, it's dry, sometimes it's cold, sometimes it's warm and sometimes the buns are squishy. It's like Gambling, but...
