This review does not go out to the Vapiano franchise in general (which I adore!) but to this specific dépendance located in Viennaʼs Donauzentrum mall.

With the implementation of the self check-out desks one barely gets a glimpse of the original Vapiano flair, where you had to order directly at one of the cooks. Of course, this concept obviously didnʼt work out so well, and what we got now are those terminals. Really bugs me because it reminds me of fast food outlets such as McDonald's. In case you want to pay with vouchers, those machines do not accept them (cash or credit/debit card only).

There is ONE cash desk left where you can speak with a human person, in case you want to pay with vouchers and thatʼs the point that drove me off and why Iʼm writing this: They are not allowed to give you money back, in case you canʼt pay the precise amount of money!

Not big news, but they arenʼt even allowed to even give you Cents back. So if you payed 5€ for a voucher and trade it for letʼs say an Ice Tea for around 4,60€ you either pay with cash or contribute to the fact, that if you use your voucher, you are charged 40 Cents more. Thatʼs ridiculous. And Iʼm not talking about those Cents but the fact that somebody who already payed for a good, has to pay actually more than a regular customer.

Nevertheless the food is as good as always but I would not recommend this store to a total...

Where to start.

You now have to order at a machine with the worst possible interface and loading speed. The people behind you have no patience waiting for you to figure out how to work the machine.

Then you have to pick up your drinks at the bar by yourself and then walk to a random table that you'll have to fight some other family for.

Besides the salad and the dessert, everything was a disaster.

We were 6 people, and only 2 were kind of satisfied with their food.

Two of the pasta bolognese had HAIR IN THEM. After a quick look, none of the cooks were wearing hair nets or had their hair up. The "waiters" didn't as well.

One bowl was not even Al Dente. The pasta was sticking to each other and just chewy.

It was a SHOCKING experience.

The table we were sitting at was also next to the entrance to the back of house, the door kept opening in my boyfriends face with staff coming in and out of the room.

I would have assumed with the money they are saving with not hiring real personal that they'd at least polish their cutlery. That's not the case.

it was the first and last time I ate at this specific Vapiano. An absolute disgrace to the rest of the chain.

Worst for all, we all work in hospitality, so we all have all the patience and understanding in the world if something does go wrong, but this was disastrous.

Do not waste...

This branch just opened recently. We had dinner with my wife and daughter yesterday night and we ordered pastas and a pizza. The pasta which would take about 30 minutes according to the lady at the counter, was delivered in just 15 minutes but no pizza which would only take 2 minutes in the oven. When i went to the counter to check, they seem to have forgotten the pizza. We waited another 10 minutes and the pizza was served. I ate half of it already and noticed that the bottom part is burned black. I went to the counter to complain and they replaced our pizza. The 2 ladies beside us also waited a long time to have their orders served and was only served after they complained of the long wait . It was chaos in the kitchen as we have observed and there seem to be a communication problem among the kitchen crew. The manager or the supervisor who looks to be indian with a beard was very quick in solving the complaints of the guests that is why i am giving this restaurant a 3 star. They should improve the system in the kitchen to avoid missing and delayed orders. Very disappointing to be kept waiting for your food which would only be prepared after you complain because of communication problems in...

I went there on saturday evening. Naturally, it was quite full. However the staff is extremely nice. When we entered, there was a lady who explained the entire system of how to order to us. First you have to order at the order-point (you can choose if you want to order at a computer or at the cash desk) and you pay as soon as you ordered. Then you'll get a pager. The pager will vibrate once your food is ready. You have to bring your pager to the checkpoint, where you will also get your food. We had to wait for 30 mins to get our food. I ordered Carbonara with Pappardelle (a type of pasta) and my mom ordered Bolognese with Pappardelle, however instead of Pappardelle, I got a different type of pasta noodles. I was fine with that, but there wasn't enough carbonara sauce and too much onion for my liking (At other vapianos they were really good). The Bolognese was tasteless. Though I have to say, that I like the atmosphere. The price is ok Price: €€
