Vorstadtwirt — Restaurant in Vienna

We went there twice. First time sat outside so all went well, second time inside. We have a one year old baby girl who got tired of sitting in the high after 45 minutes, so I brought her out, put her down and she was taking a few steps and smiling at the people at the other tables. I was next to her making sure nothing out of ordinary happens. While the waitress was passing by, she had to adjust her speed to pass by my little one. She got angry and with a lot of attitude said "Please, you can't do this here, go". I was shocked by her behaviour. I grabbed my baby and left the restaurant in the middle of my dinner while my partner and friends were still sitting there. Mind you, all the guests -who are mostly senior people- at all the tables were super kind and lovely and were immensely overjoyed by my little ones' visit. Unbelievable behaviour. Food is cheap and fine...

The food was decent, but watch out for one of the older waitresses if you’re a tourist. Instead of giving us our change and then letting us choose how much we wanted to tip her, she took all the money, ran off, and then proceeded to bend down to scream in our faces, “TIP IS NOT INCLUDED” in English when we asked her for our change and then ran off again.

The service was so painfully slow, we weren’t able to make our evening plans afterwards so I wish we weren’t scammed by such a rude and dishonest person. :-(

I asked my Austrian friend who is a local and she said to me that we probably got ripped off because we are non-German...

The place has got a great atmosphere. You can feel a little bit like a local. We have ordered pork schnitzel and spinach strudel. We have not waited long for our meal. The taste of the schnitzel was fantastic. My wife ate the spinach strudel and for her it was fine, but not as good as my schnitzel. Both portions were large. Waiter offered us a container for the food, that was left, which was nice of him. I can highly recommend this restaurant as the atmosphere is great, food is fine and the prices...
