To start off with, we were dubious about Hongbao being an ideal restaurant for an exquisite family dine out. All our doubts were cleared the moment we stepped into the restaurant. Hongbao is nothing short of a mesmerizing, elegant and ideal dining space, residing at the heart of Dhaka city. The outlook of the space itself will take your breathe away- the beautifully decorated space will provide for you a cozy atmosphere. We took a seat for five and were greeted heartily by the staff. Since it was our first time in the restaurant, we took suggestions from the staff about the appetizers, main course and beverages. The food arrived pleasingly early, and it was cooked to perfection- the soup- the Royal Soup of the Goji Sea- was mouthwateringly delicious and the other appetizers were scrumptious and delightful (definitely try out the Crispy Tiger Prawns, it will be worth your money). The main course followed, which is probably the best main course I have had in any restaurant located in Bangladesh in a long while. The beef tenderloin is probably the most soft and savory beef I have ever had, and it seemed as if the beef had melted inside my mouth. Despite our concerns with the Szechuan Prawn turning out to be sweet, it ended up being adequately spicy and flavorsome, while the Hakka Style Chicken ended up satiating my taste buds. The vegetable can be a great addition to the Classic Fried Rice, which is probably the best fried rice any Chinese restaurant has ever offered me. The restaurant staff are extremely amiable and hospitable. We were charmed by their behavior. The only reason this masterclass restaurant will not get a perfect score is because the food is quite overpriced. While the epicurean delights mentioned above satisfied our cravings, the food required an exorbitant amount of money. All in all, Hongbao is the perfect place for a family dine out with its warm and splendid environment, exceptionally delicious food and amazing service from the staff. While the price of the food maybe a hindrance to your experience, nevertheless its a quintessential spot for an ideal dine out with...
Read moreIt was one of the best dining experiences in Dhaka. We started with the Assorted Dim Sum Basket which has four veg and four non-veg dim sums. They looked so pretty and also tasted good with subtle differences among each. However, if we were to be critical, it would be great to have a bit more flavor differences. Cheung Fun was completely new dish for us. Despite the popular choice, we went with Truffle Beef Cheung Fun and we loved it. The beef inside was balanced with the sauce that the server pours on top of the rolls in from of the guests which added to the fine dining experience. We were thinking about trying roasted duck in an asian place for a few months and we thought it was the place. The server suggested us to roll the spiced pieces to have with the pancake, sauce and the veggies. This combination felt very well balanced on the palate. However, as a first timer, if I am to compare, I prefer roasted beef over duck any day. Now, the deserts: this was probably the most confusing part for us to choose. From the reviews and the name on the menu, we wish we could order all! At last, we went with Coconut Semifreddo and Nolen Gur Ice Cream. As a Chinese fine dining restaurant, I was glad so see the Nolen Gur in the suggested menu and as usual it was presented in a very nice way. The flavor is definitely very known but presented as a fancy dish. However, despite popular opinion, I would go with other deserts. Now the one what blew us away as the Coconut Semifreddo. If you love coconut like us, you should definitely try this. We were confused whether to taste it or to appreciate the artful plating. I would describe it as “straight outta Masterchef kitchen”. Last but not the least, the service and ambiance were top notch. Overall, this...

⬇️ This review is for both the food and ambience of @hongbao.bd:
🍽️ Food: ➡️ Amazing presentation! They crafted it so beautifully, and to my surprise, every bite came up with a unique taste. ➡️ This is the only place in Dhaka ig to get perfect sweetness in desserts. Rarest thing. ➡️ You'll get ice cream, lemon tart, basil, and coconut (with other hidden ingredients) spectacularly packed in one item. ➡️ Not over-flavorful. I liked the "simple" tone. ➡️ I absolutely loved their food, BUT if you're looking for authentic/real chinese foods (as its name claims), this is the wrong place. This may disappoint some. ➡️ Very pricey, but worth every penny.
⚠️ Rating: 9/10 (I hate to deduct this point, but this is for they do not serve authentic chinese foods as they claim)
🛋️ Ambience: ➡️ If you're looking for a proper fine dining experience with fancy interior, this place is for you. ➡️ Cozy, comfortable, spacious, and quiet. Low lighting makes it more relaxing. ➡️ The service is top-notch. I don't mind adding 10% SD with the food value. ➡️ Loved their soundtrack selection. 🎶
🧽Hygiene Update: ➡️ I haven’t seen such rigorous safety measures in any BD restaurants lately (not even in Intercontinental-like places). They've totally nailed it. ➡️ The guards were offering sanitizers and checking temperature while entering the restaurant. ➡️ There was a separate sanitizer bottle for us. They put it on each table. ➡️ The staffs were wearing masks, safety caps and shields all the...
