Mamagocho: One of the Hyped fine dine now-a-days is Mamagocho. Though its been more than half a year it opened, I recently gave it a try and OMG, my experience exceeded all my expectations. Though i don't have all the pictures of the food, I'll still share my experience as good as I can.We were 5 people and these are what we ordered- Fish Cake - 780 tk (5pc) Stuffed Glazed Chicken Wings - 790 tk (6pc) Basil Fried Rice - 735 tk (1:3) Mama's Special Crispy Noodles - 790 tk (1:3) Mama's Special Crispy Chicken with Somtum - 895 tk (1:3) Prawn in Mama's Special Sauce - 1040 tk (1:3) Mama's Special Veg Bowl - 545 tk (1:3) Nutty Honeycomb Delight - 370 tk Coconut Ice Cream with Caramel Popcorn - 370 tk
PORTION: As me, the price is a concern to many but trust me, if you take several dishes, then 1 of each dish is more than enough for 5 people. Even after we ate until our stomach were full, some foods were still left on the table. Portion wise, they are more than enough.
TASTE: Coming to the taste, everything was worth every penny except the desserts. DO NOT TRY THOSE ICECREAMS, THEY ARE JUST WASTE OF YOUR MONEY, SPECIALLY THE POPCORN ONE. And must take will be the Mama's Special Crispy Noodles, it was soo good that I will go again just to have that. PS: Mama's Special Crispy Noodles has an earthy smell to it for the sprouts they put in it, so if you do not like earthy smell, please avoid it. AMBIANCE: It is one of the best looking fine dines in BD right now. Too beautiful, has a garden/forest themed color palette in their decor and a rustic vibe. SERVICE: The waiter who served us was very very attentive, polite and helpful. We were there till the last hour but all of the stuffs were so cooperative that i was highly impress. Overall, if you are looking for a place for family fathering or office get together or a small special event, you MUST give this place a try just once. You won't be disappointed, I assure you. PS: You have to do reservation before going to...
Read moreWe went there for a birthday celebration. Before going, we called to make a reservation, but they informed us that they don’t take reservations. So, we decided to go anyway.
After placing our order, the waiter asked when to serve the food, as we mentioned we’d like to take some photos and cut the cake first. We requested that the food be served after half an hour. His reaction was quite surprising—he said, “Half hoooour?! Eto late e dibo?”—as if they are houng to serve it within 5min. I politely asked, “Is there any problem if you serve it after half an hour?” He didn’t respond and just walked away.
We also asked for two plates for the cake, but they didn’t give us any plates or spoon to sreve the cake. What a rubbish. We went there for bday celebration they could have atleast gave us 2 plates for the cake. I’ve never experienced such poor behavior at a restaurant, especially after ordering a good amount of food. The staff’s attitude was unacceptable, and the management really needs to look into it.
Then came the food. I’ve never had such bad Thai milk tea in my life—it didn’t taste anything like Thai milk tea. Even Yum Cha’s Thai milk tea is far better. I mentioned this to the waiter, and he just replied, “Our Thai milk tea tastes like this,” with no concern at all.
The Tom Yum soup and cashew nut salad were also awful. I’ve tried these dishes at many places, but never tasted anything this bad. We literally had to pack almost everything because we couldn’t...
Read moreI contacted the restaurant in advance to inquire about hosting a birthday party. They told me they don’t take advanced reservations, but we were welcome to come and celebrate. After that, they explained their rules and regulations for hosting a party, which seemed manageable.
Once we arrived, a waiter promptly handed us the menu. Within 2–5 minutes, we called him back and placed our order, clearly stating that we wanted the food after the cake-cutting ceremony. He asked how much time we’d need, and we said approximately 40 to 45 minutes. His reaction was disappointing — he said he couldn't wait that long. Then he asked, "Sir, koitai diye jabo?" and we settled on 20 minutes.
The food itself was below average. The only standout item was the Mango Sticky Rice, which I would recommend. Most of the other dishes weren’t impressive. The Thai milk tea was extremely sweet. When we requested a less sugary version, the waiter told us, “Amader ta eirokom hoi. Change kore dileo same misti hobe.”
To top it off, they handed us a review card but surprisingly, they had already filled it out with their own positive reviews. This felt dishonest and unprofessional.
Overall, the waiter's attitude and the service left a bad impression. I wouldn’t recommend this place for hosting events. A little hospitality goes a long way unfortunately, it was...
