Manzo is the king of minuscule
They gave us “free” starter bread that was minuscule (you’ll see a trend here) and the cubes rationed 1 per guest at the table. So stingy with the crouton sized bread that they gave. It was not refilled.
The soft shell crab didn’t taste like crab. Tasted like a pakora. Size was ok.
Caesar salad was so low effort. Basically a cut lettuce chunk with dressing and very minuscule salmon. This won’t cut it as Caesar salad anywhere (French or not). Pricing it high doesn’t make it any good. Possibly to worst and most disappointing Caesar salad I’ve had.
Scallops were ok.
Fish portions were all tremendously small for the price. And also very bland.
The beef “steak” was a bigger joke. It was basically 2 pieces of beef curry chunks presented as high end cuisine.
Manzo also tries to reinforce the French high prices without anything to quantify. Servers had zero knowledge. They don’t know the menu, don’t care. The only thing they memorized was to suggest the most expensive options on the menu
Their lead chef wasn’t there and presumably doesn’t attend. There was no reaction or inquiry when I called the food below average to the staff. Whereas any other expensive restaurant, the head chef would come out. Manzo’s chef didn’t exist.
When Manzo opened, it was a struggle to get a reservation. But people vote with their wallets. As the hype died down when I went, the place was empty. This place was way overpriced for service, cuisine and portion sizes.
Decor was not upto its pricing. It’s very dull and cheap masquerading as “style”. It’s not fine dining restaurant. the cloth napkins were torn and worn.
There are atleast 5 five star hotels in Gulshan without the pretentious pricing, cuisine and service. Stick to those. Manzo is not French cuisine, it’s...
Read moreI regret to share that my recent experiences at Manzo have significantly declined in quality. My husband and I have been frequenting this restaurant since April 2023, enjoying everything from Iftar dinners to Christmas meals. Over time, however, the food quality has noticeably deteriorated, culminating in a very unfortunate incident of food poisoning.
Initially, we had a few favorites, such as the scallops, mussels, burrata salad, and steak. However, many other dishes consistently failed to meet our expectations in terms of taste. Desserts, in particular, have been quite disappointing. The Christmas dinner dessert was especially bad, yet we decided not to alter our review, hoping it was a one-time mishap. Sadly, things have only gone downhill since then.
This summer, we tried the Mango Sticky Rice, only to find the mango was far from fresh. Our last visit was particularly distressing. We ordered an extensive range of dishes: mussels, scallops, beef tartare, tuna carpaccio, burrata salad, soft shell crabs, beef tenderloin steak, lamb racks, shrimp gambas, crème brûlée, and the aforementioned Mango Sticky Rice. My husband ended up with food poisoning that night, and although we couldn't pinpoint the exact culprit, it's clear that something from our meal at Manzo caused it.
It's worth mentioning that my husband had only a light lunch at home around 1 PM, anticipating our dinner at Manzo between 8:00-9:30 PM. There were no other food intakes before or after, ruling out any other potential sources of food poisoning.
Given these experiences, I can no longer recommend Manzo. The decline in food quality and safety is too significant...
Read moreSimply decorated place with a calm ambience that fits the fine dining vibe. The dishes are beautifully decorated, I'd definitely go forth and say one of the places with the best decorated dishes in Dhaka right now. The items are simple, not too gimmicky, which I appreciate. Now we ordered the octopus, gambas, seafood spaghetti and beef chimichurri with ponzu sauce for our lunch date. They also served their homemade buns with house special miso butter. I liked the butter, it tasted like a fancier version of ghee and salt. Now coming to the taste, my personal favorites were the gambas and octopus. Intricately plated, all the flavors worked together beautifully and created a lovely flavor explosion in every bite. The seafood spaghetti was simple, nothing too fancy nor subpar. My least favorite was the beef chimichurri. It tasted incredibly less seasoned, and well my expectations were much higher considering the dish's vivid description. It felt more like boiled chewy beef with minute amounts of blended leaves garnished on top, all unseasoned. Their service was commendable, I was impressed by their professionalism. Overall, a good place to spend time with your friends and family or enjoy a simple date in the heart of Gulshan. The view from the place is not bad. Now the price point is definitely steep for the quantity you get but that's all fine dining places so I believe anyone walking in here would have knowledge of how fine dining places work beforehand. Will recommend, hoping they maintain this quality...
