The Green Lounge
Located near the heart of Dhaka in Kawran Bazar, The Green Lounge offers a dining experience that feels like an escape from the city—despite being right above it. We arrived in the afternoon and made our way up to the 17th floor, where we were warmly welcomed by the host. Though the flashy, luxurious interior was tempting, we chose to sit outside for the full experience.
And we were not disappointed.
The first thing you’ll notice is how huge the place is. With lush greenery everywhere, it really lives up to its name—The Green Lounge. It gives off serious Hanging Gardens of Babylon vibes, with the added bonus of a panoramic view of Dhaka city that’s absolutely mesmerizing.
We ordered: Beef Karahi Fettuccini Alfredo Pasta Chicken Cashew Nut Salad Garden Salad with Meatballs (forgot the exact name)
While the kitchen prepped our food, we explored and took photos. There’s even another floor above, with an even better view of the sunset. It felt like the place just kept going—like a hidden rooftop paradise.
The meals arrived in good time. The Beef Karahi was a hit—rich in flavor, spicy, and perfect for those who love heat. The Fettuccini Alfredo, however, leaned on the bland side. Thankfully, the chunks of chicken, mushrooms, and black olives helped salvage it. The meatball salad was good and filling. The Cashew Nut Salad, on the other hand, was underwhelming—nothing you couldn’t get at a Dhanmondi Lake café for half the price.
Later, we ordered brownies with ice cream and a Latte. The brownies were rich and flavorful—definitely a high point. The Latte was decent, and as a coffee enthusiast, I’d say it delivered. However, at 350 Taka, it felt a bit overpriced. 300 Taka would've been the sweet spot.
Once the sun set, the interior truly came alive. It’s a dream for aesthetic lovers, perfect for nighttime photos. The staff were well-trained and professional, but a little more warmth and smiles would’ve elevated the service. They did kindly take a picture of us when we asked, which was appreciated.
Overall, The Green Lounge stands out for its top-tier decor and unique vibe. It’s a botanical sanctuary in the sky. While food prices are on the higher side and not everything hits the mark, the ambiance and experience more than make up for it.

From the moment you enter, the ambiance sets the tone—it’s quiet, clean, and well-maintained, with tasteful interior décor and comfortable seating arrangements that immediately provide a break from the hustle and bustle of the terminal.
One of the standout aspects of The Green Lounge is its buffet selection. The lounge serves a variety of local and continental dishes that cater to diverse palates. Items like chicken curry, paratha, fried rice, pasta, and desserts are generally available and well-prepared. Read moreThe Green lounge is said to be the largest rooftop restaurant of Dhaka. It is indeed. Their space is very wide & spacious. Soon after entering you'll find the buffet place. Then the rooftop arena.
You'll find the best rooftop view after entering. Flowers are delightful, grasses(though artificial) yet looks very natural. My mobile doesn't capture good or close to actual view in lowlights thus no images from that time. But I bet those evening moments are debatable about which time is good, morning or the evening!
From 12:00 p.m ~ 04:00 p.m it's buffet time. Again, 06:00 the buffet time starts.
We went during the gap between two buffet. Ordered two kebab 1: chicken hariyali 2: chicken malai boti. Also ordered naan.
2nd one is recommended between these two. Taste of naan was also very good.
Both were very tasty, worth every penny. Idk how their buffet is, but the non-buffet time menus are sumptuous. You can try their kebab.
Behavior of the staffs were very polite While entering, asked for COVID-19 vaccine certificate, said we've online copies and grated to enter 🙃 Taste is recommended Environment is neat and clean, also organized Interior is good along with the ambience Photography places àre genuinely good, although you might have to wait in que Above the rooftop there is a small lounge. If you're with a gang, you can also take that place (comparatively less gathering)
Downside: Had to wait a bit longer for food
Bonus tip: if you want to go for non-buffet items, then go after 04:00 pm. Comparatively less crowded in that time. Then again people starts to come in around 6o'clock! Choose is timing
It was good time over there, will go again for other...
