Coffee Shop Mesto — Restaurant in Minsk

This updated review is based on recent experience in early 2021: This cafe used to be one of the best small shops in Minsk. I enjoy it especially in the summer time because there is an air conditioner to stay cold. It is close to my home, metro station and good businesses. Lost count of how many times I went here in 2020!

I recently visited Mesto for the first time in 2021, as this is one of my favorite small coffee shops in Minsk. I walked in and notice several pleasant customers all sitting with either computers or talking, etc. I immediately went to order a cappuccino and a breakfast meal and the female employee with dreadlocks asked me to put a mask on my face. I was lost and offended as to why there was such an odd request. I said no thank you and I walked out immediately. I really like the cafe, coffee is great, desserts are not so interesting, though. The cafe isn't crowded yet and is quite cozy, which makes it a perfect alternative to the well-known cafe Zerno nearby. Moreover, MESTO has a high-speed internet - a great advantage.

Update a year later: still a nearly perfect place I love to visit from times to times. Ask for a Citrus Raf, which is superb here. I always ask for one when I am around. Побывала в июле в кафе Место. В прошлый мой приезд проходила мимо этого заведения и не смогла не обратить внимание на соблазнительный запах свежей выпечки. В этот раз решила зайти. Разочарование было довольно неожиданным. Возможно, я зашла не в тот момент, но все было неудачным. Интерьер напоминает угол, куда снесли различные ненужные стулья и столы, где-то я поняла смутную идею на модную тему экологии, но получился хаос. Обслуживание: хозяйка была очень занята, ей было не до посетителей, никакой реакции на входящих гостей. Бармен вел себя так, словно это его первый рабочий день, а практики у него не было во время учебы. Пришлось вытягивать из него каждое слово, я сама уговаривала себя не уходить, попробовать кухню. Кухня: к сожалению, запахи несколько месяцев назад были куда лучше, чем на вкус. Положительный момент - в пироге было много начинки, курица там явно была, но тесто.... О кофе я промолчу (живу в " кофейной" стране уже более 20 лет, поэтому понимаю, что много требовать от белорусского бармена по качеству кофе, это то же самое, что просить заварить хороший чай в Амстердаме).
