Ember — Restaurant in Minsk

Why only 4 stars you may ask, when it seems such an awesome restaurant on paper?

Because the steaks - and after all it is a steakhouse - don't always do the ambience justice. There is however an easy way to avoid disappointments: don't order steak! When I am here, I eat everything else on the menu 😇 Those dishes are always a 5 star experience.

Don't get me wrong please: there is nothing wrong with the meat, which is top notch. However, the art of cooking steaks is not easily taught and if the grill master himself is not 'in da house', chances are, you leave disappointed.

In summer the open wine list is rather basic, but still with some good choices and this is not affecting the 4 star rating. There is also a Perrier Jouet champagne lounge with reasonable priced NV at €70 pr bottle. The fabulous 'Belle Epoque' is also available. Cocktails are some of the best in Minsk, maybe thanks to the Bardot Mixologist? I don't know 🤷🏻‍♂️

When in Minsk, I go all the time. Expect very slow service in the afternoon, unless you know the waiters on duty. Dinner...

I had lunch there with my business partner. Being a part of DoubleTree hotel by Hilton, we'd expected it to be a luxurious restaurant. One of my friends had strongly recommended it. I loved the following: 1- The view is incredible. You can see the river, Minsk skyline, and the city itself extending to the horizon. 2- The food was delicious. We ordered a steak and grilled vegetables. Not only was the food tasty, but it was well-served too. 3- The waiter was English-speaking and very friendly. I wish I had noticed his name. 4- The atmosphere, seatings, decorations, and cleanliness were ideal, just what you'd expect from a five-star restaurant. 5- The place wasn't crowded. We enjoyed being on the open-air terrace with few people around.

I strongly recommend Ember restaurant - especially the terrace - for both business meetings and romantic gatherings. I'll certainly be back there...

Should be 3.5 actually. Amazing view. Staff is friendly and helpful. High tables are comfy. Some staff can speak good english. Managers and hostess are reasonable. Now negatives- Food looks good for instagram but taste is average. Out of 4 dishes only 1 satisfied entirely- seafood salad. Burger was below satisfaction but fries was terrible. Fish main dish had reasonable fish but terrible vegetables. Wine and Champaign selection is limited to 3 types only- the rest can be bought by bottles only. Beer selection is also limited.
