I recently dined at Fiskekur in Antwerp and was blown away by the incredible dishes on offer. From the mackerel pate to the yellowtail, every dish was a feast for the senses.
Food: The mackerel pate was a standout dish, with its creamy texture and rich flavor. The mackerel sashimi was also a hit, with its delicate slices of fish paired perfectly with a tangy sauce. The oysters were fresh and briny, and the yellowtail was cooked to perfection, with a crispy exterior and tender center.
Wine: The wine selection at Fiskekur was top-notch, with a variety of options that perfectly complemented each dish. The knowledgeable and friendly waiter was happy to make recommendations and help us find the perfect pairing for each course.
Service: Speaking of the waiter, the service at Fiskekur was impeccable. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, making our dining experience all the more enjoyable.
Conclusion: Overall, I highly recommend Fiskekur for anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience in Antwerp. The food is fantastic, the wine selection is excellent, and the service is top-notch. I can't wait to return and try more dishes...
Read moreI'm writing this negative review since I got in touch via email with the restaurant describing the problem but never got any response.
We had lunch at this restaurant mid-October 2023. Me and my friend had one oyster each and a main fish dish. The food both looked and tasted great, there didn't seem to be a need for concern. However, 1.5h after lunch, my friend started throwing up uncontrollably several times, out of the blue. It seems that one of the oysters we got served had gone bad. We had no other raw or sensitive food that day or before, so other causes are highly unlikely. We can also rule out a virus since she was fine again after that. Of course these things may happen with seafood if you're unlucky but we certainly didn't expect that at a rather fancy place like this. Food poisoning obviously hints at quality issues and I find it even more concerning that Fiskeskur didn't find the matter worth responding.
Given this experience, I would recommend others to avoid this restaurant, there is more central places to have (fresh!) seafood in...
Read moreA restaurant is rated by the food and how they treat their customers. Food here is good (a bit overpriced). However, the owners decided to play politics. The wine menu indicate the State of orgin: FR, ES, IT… and CAT. Wait CAT as a State? Yes, they decided to support the split of Spain and Cat independentism, something rejected by the majority of Spaniards (including Catalans as the elections have shown). The owners accepted (it is their choice and I respect it) that some customers may feel uncomfortable, if not clearly upset, by this political stand. They may claim they did it for other regions but the fact that all wines and vermut from Catalunya are qualified as CAT (so 4-5 times) shows it is not a mistake. I did not see such numerous “mistakes” for other countries. It is their political choice and it is my choice to express that I felt very uneasy with a restaurant that promotes the split of my own country. I did not feel welcomed. Hope they will correct this to feel welcome the majority...
