I had a very bad experience with two employees there, including one 'manager'. It happened with me this Sunday morning when I went to buy groceries, I was paying at the self scan area and I forgot to scan a bottle of beer.
A woman that works there was watching me paying (strangely enough I was the only person with a foreign face but let's not assume anything) and once I was done she came to me and told me that I forgot to scan one of the bottles of beer. It could have happened since I bought a few, so I looked at the receipt and indeed I forgot. In my head it was clear that she assumed I made mistake, I didn't think for a second that she thought I was stealing (I mean, don't your stores have those alarms that ring if you pass by them with an item that you did not buy?) so i just told her 'Okay, I will scan again and pay this beer separately' and then she answered me 'No, it does not work like that. You can't just not pay for an item and just go like that' in a very rude way. So that moment I shocked and I realized she was accusing me of stealing!
She told me then 'Follow me, you will have to pay directly to my manager' and I said 'I am not following you anywhere, I'm leaving now and I'm not bringing this beer with me'. She called the manager then and he asked to take a look at my items and the receipt and I said there is no problem and I told him that this behaviour of her employee is unacceptable and he said 'Yes, but there is so much people trying to steal us' well I don't care! I just forgot to scan a bottle of beer and I didn't even left the scan area so even if you want to accuse me of stealing you can't! Then he said the worst, that if I do it again they will call the police. How can you even say to a customer? It's a self scan area, with a very low space to put your items, it's SO EASY to make a mistake and then you treat someone like that because of one bottle of beer of 1.50 EUR? You lost a customer that pays hundreds of euros a month in your store because of that single bottle.
I understand you have people trying to steal you, but you have to realize that people might commit mistake, and you should NEVER EVER treat someone like that. And let's use common sense, it was a bottle of beer of 1.50 EUR! After waiting 5 minutes at the info point, where no one was to attend the customers, a worker came along and firstly questioned the reason why (even with a certain unfriendly attitude), then he opened it up to check the integrity and found the inner adhesive tape slightly opened, declining my return request. I tried to explain that I hadn’t even touched it, and as far as I’m concerned the tape could have been lifted even as he unscrewed the plastic cap upon it. But nothing, he couldn’t take back a 5.99€ worth item that was damaged, that I had bought there a bit earlier on the very same day. This is a very disappointing customer experience, that has nothing to do with the little amount of money lost, and that sums up with the fact that the shop itself is always undersupplied compared to other Delhaize shops in the city, the automatic counters are not seldom all off and only a few workers are on site to help out. Read moreThis grocery is well organised and has good quality products, but prices are higher than in other shops of the same chain, for me not worth the cost/benefit. Meat is particularly good and I also like the bakery. I buy mostly in the bakery (reasonable prices) or promotions. Staff is generally friendly but some cashiers could make a little more effort. During lunch time, it is often too busy because of the teenagers from a nearby school. While most are civilised, some are disrespectful and jump the line. Better to avoid.

They advertised discounts on the gondolas but charged different prices at the counter, sometimes without any discount, sometimes with different discounts than advertised... staff always have a different excuse. This is, of course, misleading and I guess not everyone checks the receipts or calculates if the discount is correct.
