Matty deserves a 5 star rating simply because it delivers on its promise in excellent fashion. Dish after dish is expertly prepared and carefully balanced. It seems like a practised hand artistically thought about every plate, and then effortlessly whipped it up just for you. It has an an interior that is a bit dated, but clean and obviously well maintained. The restaurant recently changed hands and it is planning to refurbish as soon as there is time and money. It is definitely not a reason not to visit, because again, it’s just not as hip as some other places, but still very comfortable and fancy. The service is extremely capable, attentive and also has an air of old-school service in high class restaurants, mixed with a more personal approach. We felt very well taken care of, while it is not a place we would usually go to out to eat, we had a fantastic night. Upon arrival my wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the restaurant's general setting and ambiance on February 14. Excellent greeting, service, and menu explanation. We began with champagne and an amuse-bouche, and everything was perfect until we realized that we had been seated for 3 hours and 40 minutes with only two light appetizers and two pieces of meat, as seen in the photographs. And although everything was delicious, the meal was served at a snail's pace, and it was the first time I felt hungry after sitting in a restaurant for more than three hours. In the end, we grew so impatient that we decided to leave without waiting for our dessert and cheese plate, as these also took an inordinate length of time to arrive. Matty is not only the best restaurant in Antwerpen, it is the best restaurant I have ever been to. It is surely one of the best restaurants in the world. Matty continues to surprise with his excellent cooking skills and presentation of dishes that are out of this world.
