Wow. What an incredible restaurant. I would consider going back to Antwerp, just to dine here again. I went late on a Thursday evening, and the atmosphere was divine. I didnāt have a reservation but the staff was super kind and managed to find me a table.
I started with the calamari - they had an arancini special but it had run out. Iām not a huge fan of calamari in general, but this was probably the best I have ever had. Including the real calamari I had before I turned vegan! Incredibly flavorful, and the shaved crispy zucchini was the perfect touch. Honestly I was surprised at how well seasoned the dish was! Delectable.
The cacio e pepe - there are no words. Now Iāve tried this dish at multiple Italian vegan restaurants (Pura vida in LA, double zero in NYC) and respectfully this blows them out of the water. Every bite was perfection. The creamy/cheesey sauce they used really displayed a thorough understanding of which ingredients to use to re-create dairy. The dish is so simple that frankly itās hard to pull off with vegan ingredients, but they did so beautifully. Sooo good.
This restaurant is truly special and a gem. After dining here, I understood why it was totally full. The vibe and interior decor are truly immaculate. Perfect date night restaurant, but good for any occasion, including my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs an Italian, I was naturally very curious to try Spritz Antwerpen, especially given the often limited options for vegan dishes back home. I was incredibly excited to discover a place so dedicated to plant-based Italian cuisine. We started by sharing the "small calamari," which were ingeniously made with oyster mushrooms. They were surprisingly tasty and a fantastic vegan take on a classic. For our main courses, we opted for the vegan amatriciana and carbonara ā and both were absolutely delicious! I particularly enjoyed the carbonara; it had a wonderful creamy texture without being overly rich or drenched in cream, striking a perfect balance. The amatriciana was equally impressive, tasting remarkably authentic to the traditional version. š To conclude our meal, we shared the tiramisu, which was simply "to die for." It was the perfect sweet ending to a fantastic meal. While we sipped the limoncello and Amaro del Capo on this occasion, the entire experience left a lasting positive impression. I would wholeheartedly recommend Spritz Antwerpen to anyone, vegan or not, looking for delicious and authentic Italian flavors with a creative plant-based twist. I can certainly see why it's considered one of the top-rated restaurants ā it truly lives up...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food is very tasty, but there are a lot of other attention points that made my experience here not really worth while. First of all, it is very pricy for the small amount of food you're getting. So be sure to order starters, main dish and desert to have the feeling you've eaten well... which of course makes it even more pricy... I ordered the tiramisu, which unfortunately had way too much bitter pure caco powder dusted on there (but like a very thick layer) It completely took away the taste of the desert :( The service was extremely slow, even though there were barely any other customers. The time between starter, main dish and desert was way too long and heaps of times we were just sitting there with a completely empty table waiting for our next food/drinks. It's a beautiful place with loads of potential, but staff needs more training and the plates could be more copious (or the food more filling) I've worked in hospitality myself for 15+ years, so I'm not whining about stuff that I don't...
