Restaurant De Sloepe — Restaurant in De Panne

Our night was a series of mishaps and maybe bad luck. It might be partly due to a language barrier as we spoke English to the staff. The monsieur in charge was friendly and his English was good, but he had to repair the mistakes of the waiters all the time. We tried to ask about the soup of the day and got directions to the toilet as answer. It was comical and maybe slightly worrying. We ordered frog legs, soup du jour, chicken ragout, bouillabaisse and rumpsteak with bearnaise. We got the wrong wine and juice instead of water. The rumpsteak was replaced with pork loin and mushrooms. Also the potatoes were wrong. The frog legs tasted a little fishy. The bouillabaisse was quite tasty. The rumpsteak finally arrived completely raw with liquid bearnaise. The ragout was like prison food. We laughed about it but didn’t feel...

EXTRÊMEMENT DÉÇUS! Après des années de fidélité, nous avons été DÉÇUS par le repas et surtout par la réaction du patron de ce restaurant... Notre fille aimait beaucoup y manger des boulettes sauce tomate à chaque fois qu'on venait à De Panne... mais ce soir, elle s'est plaint que les boulettes avaient un mauvais goût inhabituel! Après les avoir personnellement goûtées, je trouvais aussi que ses boulettes avaient un arrière-goût pas frais (limite avarié!). Diplomatiquement, j'ai demandé au patron s'il avait changé sa recette et sa seule réponse a été de dire à ma fille que le problème venait d'elle: que ses papilles ou son palais avaient changé!!! Quand j'ai confirmé que je partageais l'opinion de ma fille, le patron est resté sans réaction! J'ai dû lui commander un autre plat (des croquettes au fromage) à mes frais bien sûr! Au moment de l'addition, le patron n'a eu aucun geste commercial même pas une boule de glace pour la petite! Au final, ça m'a coûté 45€ pour 2 croquettes au fromage (et des boulettes pour le chien!). On a vraiment été extrêmement déçues par ce restaurant où nous n'irons plus...

Bad choice: too busy, the service could not deliver. After 1h10 the starter was not yet on the table. We left to search another real restaurant. I'm a bit harsh. I can accept people starting an activity untrained and unequipped in the kitchen but after one hour the answer should be we apologise for delay and not...you pay your drink and ciao ! Good luck...
