CHEZ SUN — Restaurant in Etterbeek

Terrible experience. I went to this place last evening with my son. There were 2 more tables which were occupied. First after waiting at the counter for 5 min. We finally got the attention of the owner and he told us to take the place. After waiting for 10 mins and no one appeared I went back and tried to ask them if I could help order and was told to go back and wait. I went and sat and again after 10 mins tried to give the order again but the owner saw me and just turned away and continued to cook. Finally I even asked one guest to help me communicate, thinking May be he doesn’t understand English and again was told to sit and wait. I finally waited for another 20 mins and then left the place. I can understand it is busy hour but at least come and take the order in 40 mins that I have been around. Terrible hospitality, food I can’t comment...

Good points: The prices are quite democratic and the cook offered me an orange after I ate which I appreciated very much.

Bad points: The food tasted very mediocre. I ordered noodles with beef and pad thai iwth vegetables. If you were to put a blindfold on me, I would barely be able to tell them apart. The pad thai especially missed the sweet and sour part. I'm also quite disappointed with the vegetables, not with their quality per se, but the fact I had green peas and celery on 2 dishes felt repetitve. There are so many more options to put in these dishes so I wished for something more creative. Food was also very oily. I expected the noodles to be drenches more in sauce than in oil.

All in all, it's a cheap place but food...

My friend suggested me this place as the best Chinese food in Brussels and she was was totally right, it was the best experience I ever had regarding Asian food. By visiting this Chez Sun I saved myself thousands euros of a flight ticket to Hong Kong. I felt I was transported there! This was my first time and not my last. The service was impeccable and very friendly, fresh ingredients and good portions with fair prices! The chef even told us interesting stories about São Paulo and New York. What a great time we had! Xiexie!

We ordered 2 plates each person and it was packet the rests to go (delicious food to finish eating later). We spent around 23 each. Really...
