My Tannour - Merode — Restaurant in Etterbeek

What a wonderful find! I lived in the Middle East for 17 years, so I'm always drawn to this type of food. We ordered the smoked chicken platter and the Syrian platter. The chicken was shredded, tender, and full of flavor. Both platters came with a colorful coleslaw salad, a green wheat salad (freekeh), mutabal (aubergine), and a tasty garlic sauce. The Syrian platter also came with falafel, halloumi cheese, and hummus. Everything was delicious!

The main attraction here, though, is the freshly baked flatbread. It's worth a visit just to see Hassan work his magic with the dough in the unique tannour oven. And there is something delightful about dipping fresh bread into the creamy, smoky mutabal...

I walked in and ordered the usual vegetarian plate with Falafel; after I paid the person at the till remembered that they could make only wraps for that night. It was fine and I asked to receive the difference in cash.The guy at the till told me it was not possible( it is rediculos that there is no way a clients can get a refund). He was offering as alternatives drinks which I already purchased and did not want to have more. I asked to have a slice or 2 of halloumi on my wrap and a guy from the kitchen rudly told me it was not possible, not even trying to offer a decent customer service. At the end I got my order and once I arrived home the wrap was wrong (there were only vegetables and no falafel).I do not...

Last time we ever come here : quality of MyTannour has gone downhill. We ordered takeaway which showed pick up would be ready 15 minutes later. We arrived a good 20 minutes later and they said it needed another 20 minutes - so total nearly an hour for two sandwiches. The staff is rude, unfriendly, unwelcoming : they claim to be serving Syrian street food yet not one Syrian or actual middle eastern person in sight and forget about any middle eastern hospitality. Just a bunch of rude, uneducated, teenagers who grunt as a form of communication. To top it off: the food is nothing what it used to be. Flavorless and tasteless - at platter prices as if you were being served at...
