NONA PIZZA Merode — Restaurant in Etterbeek

This is the first Neapolitan Pizza experience for me so difficult to compare vs other Neapolitan Pizzas but if I need to compare with other Pizzas first thing which will hit you is that the pizza dough is so thin and light it stays behind and makes you taste the ingredients rather than eating plain dough. You will find a debate even here in the reviews that the pizza being undercooked so the middle is wet but according to my research it is exactly meant to be that way, in soggy form where the sauce create a molten even soupy center area. it was impossible to pick up the pizza by hand or even fold it. I am not the expert but I think as said it is meant to be that way. I liked it anyway. the on-top ingredients was so much that I enjoyed eating it with minimum dough. The size of the pizza was ok. Kids shared 1 pizza without complain but I could eat more as it was light to eat. The atmosphere is cosy, very friendly smiling staff. Service is very fast. Open kitchen and literally it is hot due to the wood oven in the middle. Appalling! New Smoking Ban Ignored, Smokers' Disregard Unacceptable.

My recent visit to Nona I was deeply disappointing due to their complete failure to enforce the new smoking ban on terraces, which came into effect on January 1, 2025.Despite the clear law, smokers were openly lighting up at their tables while dining, showing a shocking arrogance and blatant disregard for the comfort and health of others. This wasn't just unpleasant – it made the entire experience highly uncomfortable.When I raised this with the staff, I was astonishingly told that smoking was still allowed. We go here quite often, either to eat in, or takeaway to eat in the park nearby. Pizzas are generally good. Last week we came at 21:10 with my girlfriend who is pregnant 9 months and her 77-year old mom. We wanted to pick up a takeaway pizza on the way back from the hospital. Inside was about 20% full and outside about 60%. We asked for the 3 pizzas, the pizzaiolo was happy to make them, but the manager came and said that there have been too many orders and we can't be served. The pizzaiolo again said he was happy to make the pizza but the manager again refused. The restaurant says it's open till "late" and Google says 22:00 on the Wednesday we went.
