Café Latino — Restaurant in Hasselt

Not authentic but still great quality food.

However, regardless how delicious the food was, it wasn't something worth waiting an hour for. Poor customer service experience.

We got in at 630pm, got our food served at 8pm when we already had 2 rounds of drinks. Just to clarify, it was just my husband and I. We only ordered a main dish each. There was also not much people when we came in, but after we did then people just kept coming in and we noticed that they even got their orders before we did.

At the end of our meal, waitress gathers our plates and apologizes for the wait, telling us there was an error that caused the delay and because of that, our drinks would be on the house. We expected this meant the 2 rounds of drinks but upon paying, apparently only one round of drinks were on the house. We only had 2 bottles of mexican soda each, amounting to 9.80 for both of us. We didn't even feel like discussing anymore so we just left it. But we would have appreciated at least letting us know throughout the wait that there was a delay and they're working on getting our orders to us as soon as possible.

Good experience but probably not coming back. Even tho the food (and the soda) was great. Just...

Cosy place on the Zuivelmarkt. Good for nice Mexican food or a lovely cocktail.

We went for a cocktail on the terrace, a mojito and a sangria. Mojito on the expensive side, 10 euros which was ok but not the best.

Sangria was very tasty and not your usual sangria!

One unfortunate thing was that there was some kind of flying ants plague on the terrace, not only on this terrace but just on the streets in general.

They were just crawling all over the place, chairs and was kind of uncomfortable feeling we had. I suppose there are some tools to keep them off the terrace...

From all other places I went for a dinner to in Hasselt, this has been the disappointment so far in terms of taste. The place looks neat and cozy. The music fits the ambience and the items on the menu are what you expect of a mexican restaurant. My dishes, the battered squid rings (seemed to be frozen, then deep fried goods, not homemade) and avocado salad were pretty much tasteless. For the quality of the food, the price is too high compared to other places nearby. Maybe I just picked the wrong food to eat :/ The...
