Fonduehuis Hasselt — Restaurant in Hasselt

My mind was blown when I entered Buon’ Eatalia. Such a beautiful decoration, with a huge picture wall on the left and a astonishing bar on the left. In the back there is still plenty of space, which makes this an incredibly big place. At reservation you can choose where you want to sit.

I ordered seafood tagliatelli and my girlfriend who does not eat a lot just ordered an aubergine lasagna as a starter.

The aubergine lasagna was super small, even though it had the same price as the tagliatelli, 18 euros! Seafood tagliatelli was tasty, but not wow. Prices of the food were on the expensive side, 15-40 euros for a main platter so I would expect quality food and a good service.

Unfortunately the price quality of the food was not good as well the service was just terrible.

The man serving our table was super grumpy, not friendly at all and we had to wait many times during the night. Ordered a bottle of wine which came after 5 minutes, he just putted the bottle on the table without opening yet saying he will come back and went to other tables. Took another 5 minutes from him to come back, opened the bottle and left all the plastic from the bottle on the table. Other servants were doing their best but were visibly unexperienced, wearing sports pants.

Ofcourse, all of this is fine if you go to a regular place. BUT, if you want to impress people with your decor and put such a high prices on food, people expect good quality food along with cosy service.

One of the best places in the center of Hasselt! Kind and funny waiters, beautiful location. Even the bathrooms are cool! From the outside the place seems small but once you enter, you notice how big it is. Everything is well taken care of, so it worth it. Before starting with pizzas we received some bread and ham, delicious! The pizzas were big, very thin and tasty with fresh ingredients. I'm from Italy and I know what a real pizza is, but this place offers a good replacement for that. We also tried the moelleux au chocolate with vanilla ice cream. You can also stay for a break without having dinner but just to drink something in the most external part on the street, covered with windows and with some hot spot during the cold seasons. Great experience! They saved my evening at Hasselt since EVERY other restaurant i called had been fully booked. I had a spaghetti Bolognese and I have to say it tasted great, but very similar to what I tried before at Brussels. It didn't taste ground-breaking or anything special. The pane bread with ham was AWESOME! The tables have olive oil which pairs great with the bread. A bit pricier than other Italian restaurants.

The service was super friendly, one waiter kept asking me if everything was okay! Great service! Very caring!
