Apocalypse — Restaurant in Ixelles - Elsene

I used to visit this restaurant for the pho as I worked in Ixelles. I tried yesterday the soup Bun Bo Hue and it a very disappointing . The broth was Very sweet, no spicy lemon grass taste and vegetables was not really fresh. And the rice noodles is not the thick rice noodles I have eaten in other Vietnamese restaurant of Brussels. And the price of their Bun Bo Hue was highest comparing to 3 other Vietnamese restaurants I visited. Last visit and never again .

EDIT : In order to respond to the owner who cannot handle a feedback. I used to visit the restaurant when Rosa worked there. so it was a long time ago. I liked the Pho, grilled spare ribs lemongrass. And during that time I found a a small plastic piece in my pho but still I did not write a negative comment (accident can happen) . I tasted the Bun Bo Hue for the first time. You use the a thinner rice noodles which doesn't combine well with this type of soup. Too bad I did not take a picture of the soup so readers can check on YouTube how this soup look like and what are the ingredients.

I ate because I was hungry and I paid 17€ for this soup while in other restaurants they charge 14€. and by the way I did not finish the soup because I left some porc meat.

I asked you an extra salad because the one I had was not that fresh. small amount of beans sprout.

I never told you I "love" the soup because you have never asked the question.

We agreed on one thing, I will avoid your restaurant with pleasure.

I have read a review posted by a customer of 6 months ago where her dish of green curry has a color of "fluo green "and the taste was horrible. She has posted pictures. You have never replied on her post.

I guess some days your dishes are well prepared with the correct ingredients and on other days they are...

third edit: eat here ! this restaurant is on another level, not just the best vietnamese restaurant i know in Brussels, and i know Hau, the food is just stunning, the crepes (very thin pancakes made with rice), the best oriental tartare in this city, "coupé au couteau" cut with a knife. i have tried over 400 restaurants in Brussels, and this one is not just easily top 10 (taking everything into account), it's the best in it's category for any vietnamese dish i know. and, you might also appreciate the very respectable family who runs this place, who will spend all their energy to offer you their best meal, and you will learn to appreciate them, more and more, when you learn to know them, they are here to give you good food, not to charm you to compensate for a mediocre dinner, respect !, i think the owner, his family deserve admiration !, oh and, it's just delicious food !! :) Extraordinary !!! Went with a group of friends to this place on another friend's recommendation and was not let down. This is a moderately priced restaurant offering thai/ Vietnamese cuisine. Good for small groups/ bunch of friends/ or couples as well. Recommendable to have a prior reservation, else you might have to wait, because this place is really popular with locals in evenings. The taste quality preparation and presentation of the food is perfect. Desserts are also amazing and must definitely be tried. They do not offer takeaways i believe. One of their staff was a bit loudmouth, but that's ignorable. You probably just want to stick with the female staff who are very polite on the contrary.
