Great place for parents and kids! A small and chic oasis (yet NOT quiet) to enjoy a coffee or an entire b-day party. Their "secret"? They have an indoor playground, the size of a regular room (12sqm), nicely padded, so kids won't bang thier heads on the floor, and filled with different toys, including chalk and a blackboard, toddler toys and an entire wall covered with duplo boards, so kids can build verical masterpieces. The thing is you can see your kids almost all the time, through the floor to ciling doors of the playground. Well, you can alao hear them :). The doors usually stay open and there is a constant flow of happy feet towards mum and dad's table, to sip some homemade lemonade, grab some cake or just to complain about " Sue not sharing the train". Still, in between those you migjt get some time to breathe and enjoy the excellent coffee, the interesting lattes (either with regular, almond or coconut milk), the cakes and other bagels.
They also have a smal range of beer, wine and sparkling wine (sold by little bottles), so everyone in the family suits their taste.
For kids older than 6-7, there is a library on the forst floor, a calmer area.
They also throw some small tables on the sidewalk, in case you just want to enjoy thier products, without the buzz of the kids. There is also an interior (paved) open air space with 4-5 tables.
When I visited it was for a b-day, so packed with kids (btw, it is good to reseve well in advance for a b-day), so I didn't take any pictures. But the decor is reallg lovely and comfortable: a bit of industrial chic, with smallish, but very comfortable armchairs and poufs, all in jeulerry colours.
It makes you feel: yes, this is a b-day for a 4yo, but I am also an adult who deserves to sip the coffe in a nice, grown-up looking place.
About prices... well, as I was invited for tge party I did not look into details, there was alaready something available on the table. But the prices seem to be regular for a Brussels coffee shop.
The personnel is nice, young and they are used to serve the tables among a whirlwind of kids.
For sure we will be back.
L.E. We were back today, as it was on our way. As by miracle it was very quiet (less kids around) I took the opportunity to take...
Read moreVery vintage and authentic looking establishment. The staff is friendly and professional. My personal favourites are the Bagel 'Poulet Oriental' and Bagel 'Chèvre Miel & Bacon'. They have a small selection of beers, which match perfectly with the dishes.
The little terrace court behind the building enables you to sit outside undisturbed from traffic noise. They recently have expanded a road side terrace. A little more noisy but you can enjoy direct sunlight and the greenery of the neighborhood.
Why 4 stars, the place tends to be a little pricey. Highly recommended for lunch with a colleague or a friend, even your significant other. Also important, it is kids friendly as they have a kid corner where your child can play while you can enjoy your...
Read moreI have strong feelings about this cafe - it is a place of culinary excellence and has created a beautiful ambiance, cultivated by the finest vibraphonists.
The veggie brunch on toast was a light and refreshing delight to the pallet; a welcome feast after a week of food on the go. At €14, this meal was on the bougie side of establishments, but for the impeccable vibes, it was worth it.
The mood was completed by reggae covers of Bastille and Beyoncé which followed us to the toilets where we had a little jig while taking a tinkle. The breezy and colourful decor of the establishment matched the friendly energy exuded by the staff.
I shall return to Lloyd Coffee Eatery when I come back...
