Ordered delivery through Takeway. The order was very late and the time kept increasing, when I called the restaurant they said it was because there were no drivers available, which understandibly is not in their power to change. After waiting some more (almost 2 hours in total) I decided to go and pick up the order myself. At the restaurant I find the delivery driver looking at his phone while waiting, because the restaurant was preparing a very big order that was supposed to depart together, while my order had been sitting there for quite a while obviously. Very deceiving customer service from the restaurant, trying to blame the lack of drivers when clearly having issues with orders themselves. Food would have been better if it hadn’t sit there for 2 hours waiting to be delivered (we ordered 2 sets of classic makis, usually does not take long to prepare) and could have gone to pick it up sooner if the people at the restaurant were truthful about...
Read moreI'm typically inspired to write reviews for places that I find either exceptionally good or downright awful. This is for the latter. Not gonna lie. It was really bad. So bad that it was hilarious. Where do I begin? You know how the sushi is rolled in tightly? Nope. The rolling was extremely loose. The flavourful sticky rice was replaced by a tiny amount of, what I assume was, plain arborio completely devoid of any taste. I got a classic sushi with crab and an original creation with shrimp. In both of them about 50% of the filling was thick pieces of cucumber. And there was roughly cut lettuce and mint. Lettuce! And mint! To no one's surprise they didn't complement the flavour of either crab or shrimp. Not all was bleak though. I also got chicken gyoza that was quite good! And was accompanied by a really nice mango sauce. Anyway, if you are ever in the area do yourselves a favour and go eat...
Read moreWhen we went, it seems the table hadn't been cleaned properly between people eating at them, we sat at tables that had some sauce and crumbs on them.
However, that being said, the food was incredible. We got two dishes: the Makemba maki and the Meat-Me hotdog maki.
The hotdog maki was an intriguing option. The "bun" is made of rice that has been fried with a batter of coating. Then this is topped with chopped sausage, cucumber, sauce, etc. The crispiness of the batter contrasted nicely with the rice interior. The sausage was a bit underwhelming but still nice, and the sauce was good.
For me however, the Makemba maki was a highlight. It is made with chicken, plantain, cucumber, teriyaki, and sriracha sauce. The combination of sweet and spicy is a wonderful treat....
