Very nice bar/pub style place with some tables on a small plaza outside across the street, quite the selection of bottled beer. Chicken tenders were great, fries were good (but not what we were hoping to get, we were looking for the legendary Belgian fries) and the burger was very tasty (a bit greasy, too, but that's where the taste comes from, right?).

However, the service staff took the cake (please see update below, too): We wanted to share both the burger and the tenders and asked for a knife to cut the burger in half. Any cutlery would have done, like a butter knife or probably even a spoon for that matter -- but they refused. At first I thought it was a joke, but they were really serious: "I don't even know you, you could attack us with a knife!" Sure bro, it is noon on a sunny Friday, and here are two middle-aged men in suits with ties and pocket squares, sneaking out of a conference for fries, a burger, a beer and a knife assault with a butter knife borrowed from YOU. 😂😂😂

UPDATE: The man is right. If "no butter knives for anybody ever" is their policy then he handled it nicely, to be honest. I still like to think I don't look like a violent knife murderer but what do I know? 😂

So overall, the food was very good, he explained their policy calmly, still solved the issue (by cutting the burger for us) and we enjoyed the food, the beer, and the visit in general. I don't want to take away from that with a petty service rating. Retrospectively I don't even know why I reacted so harshly to all of this at first, but I'm sorry and...

RUDE WAITERS. We went to this restaurant in January. A friend and I asked for a cheeseburger, because we didn’t want everything that the burgers of the menu had, and in almost all restaurants there’s no problem with it. Well, not in this one. When we ordered that, the waiter told us that it wasn’t possible, since it wasn’t in the menu. A cheeseburger it’s way easier to do than their other burgers, it’s not as they have to learn a new recipe. So my friend and I ordered a burger from the menu and started to told him to take off different ingredients, so we could end up eating somehow a cheeseburger. And here the waiter told us in a very rude mood “the kitchen is not gonna like this”. Excuse me? If I pay for that, what’s your problem? That’s what I told him. He finally accepted and when he served them, he threw us the trays in a very impolite way while to my other friends who ordered from the menu, he served them carefully.

Additionally, I don’t know if this was did on purpose, but the cheese of the cheeseburgers was almost non-existent, and the one bacon that they put us couldn’t be littler. Wouldn’t pay 12€ for that again.

I don’t know if all of this happened because we were young foreigners or what, but I can’t stand this type of behaviors from people who has to deal with customers that are going to pay them. Definitely i’m going to NOT recommend this place to anyone at least that they want to...

Ok, I'm generally here to only give positive reviews unless you're an a-hole. Sometimes, you get blown by what happens. Today was that day. I consider myself a bit of a burger connoisseur so when my friends said this is the best burger joint in Belgium and even yanks come to sample the establishment's goodness, I took it with a pinch of salt. In respect of my friend's high praise, I decided to take their classic burger, au naturelle, so my personal preferences didn't interfere.

Holy mother of burgers, I can say without a shadow of a doubt, it is the best burger to pass my lips in my whole life. They suggested the uplift to the double pâte, after tasting the exquisitely cooked single pâte, I'm looking forward to my return and embracing their recommendations and adding bacon.

Service was humble and faultless. The beer was perfect. The fries were ok but unnecessary as the burgers are the main act.

Belgium is the daddy where fries are concerned, this is a burger joint with good beer and amazing service. The fries are good but if you amazing then go elsewhere. I'm not dissing the fries, I'm simply saying the burgers are the best, the staff are zen, beer is solid, good pricing and the fries are decent.

I hope that makes sense and the bottom line is I want to give the burgers 6 stars.

I'm going back for Round 2, photos...

Uncle Richard is your typical sports bar -rather than a restaurant- in Place de Londres: big screens and small menu. But the burgers are quite delicious (I had the veggie "burger" and my friend had the Angus-something burger). The beer selection is generous, and the sports... well there's not much they can do about what's going on on the telly. But you can enjoy a lovely evening even with nothing great on the screens. If you can't, well, that's a general problem of modern society, isn't it? So maybe you need another beer. 🙂 P.S. They have a couple of posters with Homer Simpson. Far from unique, but still, not typical. At least not in Brussels. There are other cartoon-related priorities here....
