New saki sushi Leuven — Restaurant in Leuven

I used to eat at Saki Sushi a lot and I had always been very happy. The owner was extremely nice and the sushi was worth the money. Last week I had returned after not visiting for a year and it seems like the owner had changed. The interior looked the same but I was greeted with some form of Indian music. The service was extremely basic. You get the menu, you get your food and you just kind of have the people working there stare at you every now and then. The toilet was disgusting with brown smears still in the bowl. The bathroom and sink didn't look like they were cleaned regularly. The sushi was ok. Nothing more to say about it. The wasabi that was served with it didn't have any taste. Even after mixing all the wasabi we got, it wasn't spicy at all and had a powdery texture.

Overall, I don't recommend eating here unless you do with a large discount. Or, if you need to be in the area and are starved...

We ordered the sushi online asking to deliver at 20h as we were not home yet earlier. At 19h we get a phone call asking if they can deliver now, we said no as we were not home. At that time we were already worried we would get the same food, but delivered 1 hour later. At 20h sharp the delivery guy arrived. The food was a very big disappointment.

the miso soup tasted like water with salt and butter and it was cold. the gyoza was deep fried instead of steamed. They didn’t tast good. the sushi dragon eye was warm, deep fried and very greasy. They were very clearly warmed-up again. We would have preferred them cold. We never had greasy sushi before. The taste was horrible. edamame beans were cold and not tasty.

The sushi was average and took ages to arrive, even though we had a starter first snd the restaurant was almost empty. The starters (gyoza and tempura) weren't that good either, rather like supermarket quality. The service was okay, but the waitor didn't have a clue about the different kinds of Japanese beer they were serving. Also not a nice atmosphere at all I this restaurant. The place seems to rely mainly on their delivery service, which is probably why the food took so long. Definitely overpriced for the quality you get. Wouldn't recommend it and won't go...
