Indian Palace — Restaurant in Lier

This was our 3rd visit to this restaurant (on Sunday April 30th) and we wished it would have been a lot better than our other visits, but, it was not. The food is ok, but not spectacular. We usually go to Antwerp to find authentic Indian food and this had been a good alternative, until now. It was somewhat busy that day, but we still don't understand what we had to ask 4 times to order a drink, then, after 20 mins, we still didn't have our beer and lasi. We had 3 different people attend our table and neither knew from nothing. Sadly, that didn't set the right mood. After 40 minutes, we were able to order food which arrived 20 minutes later. The dishes were ok, but something was lacking, it was not authentic, like more for tourists. Then, for the second time in this restaurant I ordered lamb but was served chicken. Absolutely Disappointed – Never Again!

This was honestly one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. First of all, the "biryani" was a total disaster – it was nothing more than plain boiled rice mixed with some spices. There was no depth of flavor, no aroma, and the meat was just tossed in, with no real preparation or care.

As for the butter chicken, it was completely inedible – bland, overly creamy, and tasted like it came out of a can. We were expecting authentic flavors, but got a sad, flavorless mess instead.

To make things even worse, while the waiters were polite, it was impossible to ignore the strong body odor coming from one of them. In a restaurant setting, basic hygiene should be non-negotiable. The smell was all over the place and honestly ruined our appetite even more.

Overall: Bad food, bad hygiene, bad experience....

Upon arrival, we didn’t have a reservation and were given a rather uncomfortable table. The service from the waitress was a bit stiff at first, which was disappointing. Interestingly, customers who came in after us, also without reservations, were allowed to choose where they wanted to sit – which felt odd. Thankfully, a waiter (perhaps the owner) stepped in and arranged a much better table for us. His service was excellent! The food was good, and the decor was fine, though nothing special. Overall, a...
