Akira Sushi — Restaurant in Mechelen

Yesterday I orderded a ¨combo¨ from their menu and I am quite shocked on what arrived. I usually do not take time to write a bad review because I know how hard can it be for a business but, the quality of what I received has to be informed. You cannot roll cucumber with rice and call it sushi, how come you can include almost 40% of the sushi in a plate with only 1 single vegetable as a filling. Im sorry but this was the worst sushi I have ever had. I give it two starts because at least presentation looked ok, but the size and fillings left too much to say, not good quality at all. This was our first time trying Sushi and asked for recommendations. The waitress was unable to recommend anything. we ordered a cappuccino for having and Sushi for take away. They made us wait for more than 25 mins for a take away and finally started getting plates to serve. They did not have cappuccino and I was given black coffee without an intimations that cappuccino was not available. Haven’t tasted the food yet, but quite disappointed with the service so far!...

Coming here regularly for almost three years now, freshest sushi I have had so far in my life, a very pleasant surprise considering it's more inland.

The owner is very kind and likes to joke around. Waiting time on food varies as they also do delivery in Mechelen, and feels to have improved a lot lately. Always find it worthwhile!
