Boba Eetcafe - Sint-Niklaas — Restaurant in Sint-Niklaas

Overall, I would say that this is quite a nice place to get something sweet and/or a lunch. The staff were friendly and the place was pretty nice. The only negative I can think of is that the age of some of the furniture is showing through wear and tear. But don't let that stop you from trying this place out!

The food and drinks here are of good quality and pretty cheap: The panini is what you would expect from a panini. It is quite nice.

The boba tea I had was a macha. The tea used is of a mild profile to where the flavor of milk is the primary one. The matcha flavor itself was on the more subtle side; the matcha was well mixed, so no matcha grains. The pearls had an excellent bounciness and mouth feel. It is also on the less sweet side, so it lacks taste beyond the outer, softer layer. The only issue is that ice is only added at the end and not during the mixing, so the drink is warm at first. Waiting and mixing a bit solves that issue. Oh, and there is a frequent customer card! Overall, it does lack a bit of a distinct bubble tea flavor, but all the other aspects are great! Would...

The takeaway iced matcha latte was quite ok! The matcha itself was not all that strong, and the drink was by default sweeter than expected (you have to actively ask for less sugar/sweetener). But the tapioca pearls were boiled to perfection, and had an excellent texture. This is probably as good as you'll ever find bubble tea in Belgium, I reckon. I was efficiently served, and the pricing is reasonable. Let's hope this type of business is embraced by customers so they can grow their presence...
