The Tavern — Restaurant in Belize City

I don’t typically leave reviews unless I REALLY LOVED a place or REALLY disliked it. The staff at tavern seem quite friendly and the restaurant has indoor and outdoor sitting which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the drinks were served messy because it kept spilling as the waitress was trying to serve us. Regardless of that, the drinks were delicious. My margarita was way too strong and the Pina colada tasted like it barely had any alcohol but still tasty enough. The wontons were creamy and delicious but the beef Nachos was terrible! The cheese used on the nachos is similar to the yellow cheese out of a can. The cheese got hard and I felt like I was in a tug of with the cheese each time I took a chip. We barely ate it and complained to the waitress. This is my second time at Tavern and receiving a subpar meal. However, they did not do anything about it as once again. Instead, the waitress said that’s just how they serve the nachos and asked if I wanted it to go. Lol. At the end of it all, I was left hungry and looking for a different restaurant to go to.

Terrible terrible. My co- workers and I went here for lunch and it was our first time. We went in and sat down and the table was filthy. We waited for like 20 minutes and no one came to give even give us a menu. We had to dodge the waitress and ask her to please serve us. She came over and apologized for the delay and explained that there were only 2 of them working. We ĺater placed our orders. After that they brought out our beverages and told us the food won't be long. I am not kidding you all, we straight up waited 1hr 20minutes to get our food. Thank heavens the food was delicious but 1hr 20minutes for a plate of food, hell no. It was time to pay. They still had the heart to service charge us for such terrible service. I was disappointed with Tavern during a recent lunch outing with my family. We actually found a nail in my niece's food.

While they did apologize and offered to replace her Fettuccine pasta with a pizza, they charged us for the pizza. I believe it should have been free given the inconvenience caused.

When I lived in Belize, we used to frequent Tavern. I'm not sure what has changed, but it just felt different this time. Personally, I don’t see myself returning anytime soon. Seriously, do better, Tavern.
