Firstly, this review is not about Brisa Oceano Resort, which is amazing. But we went for a meal at Brisa Tapas at 7pm. We found the place completely deserted. We were given menus, we ordered water and a bottle of white wine. We were given a bottle of water, no glass (were we supposed to swig from this during our meal?!). There was a selection of 5 (quality) bottles of white wine on the menu, but were told the only bottle of wine available was a rose. But we could have an individual glass of white wine (obviously much more costly to order individually). No explanation as to why. We ordered white wine by the glass, only for it to arrive warm, ice was then offered to add to it....The server then struggled to confirm what juices were available and then asked did we want to order food (she seemed completely disinterested, almost discouraging us to stay). We said we would look at the menu, they never came back out to check if we would like to order. By this stage, with the service, the fiasco over drinks and the place being totally devoid of atmosphere, we had no confidence in what may happen with the food so cut our losses and headed to Barefoot! Plenty of atmosphere, service and food there! It was so bad it was...
Read moreWe so want to love our dinner as friends had a good breakfast here. First the white wine selection needs to be reviewed by someone who knows wine, they visually are dark yellow and we tried 2 which were not drinkable. We finally had to switch to red.
We started with the Caesar salad which was a bundle of romaine lettuce and the dressing was on the side. Expensive for what we got. Next door Rick’s Cafe makes an amazing Caesar salad. I got the pan seared gnocchi with a Genovese sauce which was not pan seared and it was served in a tall bowl and loaded with mozzarella cheese. Or some type of stingy bland cheese. The gnocchi were good and would have been great if they were actually pan seared and leave off the mozzarella cheese please. My husband had shrimp curry which was good but didn’t come with rice. Who serves curry without rice. He could have picked this as his side but the waitstaff didn’t tell us it didn’t come with rice.
Inside was very noisy and hard to hold a conversation over the blenders at the bar being on. With all the choices in Placencia for dinner this is a pass for us. Maybe for...
Read moreFood was good. Service was not good. Our server not very well versed on what was offered and/or could not explain dishes. Menu was misleading, no pricing on sides. When asking the server if entrees came with sides we were lead to believe by her cryptic answer that a side comes with the entree. Sides or at least the side I had was $8 BZ We had some wine, ordered a second glass and Seija's never came. Once we did get the bill instead of charging for a glass of wine for Seija they charged for two bottles. Once we got the bill back they still had charged for two glasses, where only one was brought. By then I was totally over it and left without asking for another correction. I never do not leave a tip, I did this time. I will...
