⸻ The hype for this restaurant was quite high—especially from my niece—so we had to give it a try. Conveniently located in the heart of the city, it’s easily accessible by both private and public transport. When we visited around midday, the place was quite busy and crowded, so making a reservation might be a good idea, though it could still be hit or miss. We ordered a few dishes from the menu, and overall, it wasn’t too bad. The gyoza felt more like momo than traditional Japanese gyoza and lacked a bit of flavor. The noodles were decent, while the curry was average and overly salty. The standout dish, however, was the chicken karaage—crispy, flavorful, and surprisingly very good. Service was where things fell short. The staff seemed robotic and showed little to no emotion, even when we made polite requests. All in all, not a bad attempt at Japanese cuisine in Bhutan, but there’s definitely room for improvement—especially in flavor consistency and customer service

Located right next to the road, Hayate Ramen might seem small from the outside, but don’t let appearances fool you — step inside and you’ll find a surprisingly spacious and welcoming interior. The cozy ambiance, paired with clean Japanese aesthetics, immediately sets the tone for an enjoyable dining experience. The food is absolutely delicious. Each bowl of ramen bursts with authentic Japanese flavor, from the rich, savory broths to the perfectly cooked noodles. Whether you’re craving the classic Tonkotsu or a Spicy Miso, every bite feels like a comforting trip to Japan. The side dishes, like crispy gyoza and juicy karaage, complement the main course wonderfully. What makes Hayate special is how it brings the taste of Japanese cuisine right to your table in a relaxed and casual setting. The staff are friendly, the service is quick, and the quality is consistent.

One of the Japanese restaurant in the thimphu and in a country also. If vistor and locals are looking to try Japanese food than these is a place to visit and try. The food are really tasty and good. The location of the place is also perfect and the place is also good. The service and the people who are working out there are friendly too. It's one of favorite place to visit and would recommend other also to visit. Because it binds you with different culture.
