A classic example of a popular restaurant that completely disregards its commitment to service (because it thinks it can get away with it). My family visited on 29/12/2015 with a 1:30pm reservation confirmed by our hotel. We arrived 6 minutes late and the maitre d' told us without out even looking at the reservations that we had lost our table. When I queried this he said that it was too bad and this was Salvador. He promised to find us a table and 30 minutes later put us outside in the sun in 34C heat. A local told me that they never do this as it is too hot. After waiting for an eternity for menus I finally had to walk over and grab some from a waiter. We asked for drinks and nothing happened for 30 minutes so I had to go inside and pretend to order from the bar and then take a tray and serve my family myself. I politely asked the maitre d' to be seated inside and he told me that I would have to join the line again (although he managed to quickly place guests he seemed to know). We then did get a waiter who really tried and was very good. But when it was past 3:30pm and we still had not received any food we had to amuse ourselves by clasping our hands and begging the maitre d' to let us eat something, anything. When our lunch (dinner) finally arrived the food was reasonable, But that could not make up for the appalling service and complete disregard for guest comfort. We had been so looking forward to eating here, but it was utterly disappointing. The chef has quite a reputation, but it is being destroyed by the...
Read moreI had a reservation on Dec 27th for dinner with friends. It is a beautiful restaurant. Excellent Brazilian music, not too loud. Food is definitely also good. I got fried breaded shrimps and polenta with a special meat as entree. Both ok! For dinner we were all happy with our choices - cupim meat, shrimps, octopus... The only and main thing that made me give this restaurant a poor review was the waiter that served drinks to us while we were still waiting for two of our friends arriving. We have ordered a couple of capirinhas, coconut water and beer and this specific waiter was completely unprofessional, it not only took a while for him to come back with our order, as he was very rude with one of my guests. He came to our table (outside) and started serving one side of the table (first the coaster glass and after the drink). Instead of he serves one side of the table and after walking around to serve the other side (since we were 6 at this time) he decided to throw the coaster glass to one of my friends and said "catch it", still laughing. Honestly, I prefer to believe that he was only an unprofessional lazy waiter. Amado restaurant should definitely look into their staff, if they want to keep their good reputation on the high class...
Read moreFor the calibrar of the restaurant, which is supposed to boost a fine dining experience, I am deeply disappointed with both the food and the service, especially as it was a special occasion for Dia dos Namorados.
At an average of R200+ per dish, I expected better execution for dishes with more fresh ingredients. I ended up sending back the seafood casserole with squid ink spaghetti as the spaghetti had a strong fishy smell.
We were under the impression (language was not an issue) that the restaurant was agreeable to exchange it for a different dish, which I opted for the roasted cupim. However, when the bill was presented to us, the casserole made an ugly appearance. The staff insisted that it was a miscommunication and that the dish could not be returned once it had left the kitchen. I did not want to cause a big scene on such a special day, but man was I disappointed with their level of service at this level.
The other dishes, the cupim, and the cashew crusted fish was also subpar for what I would expect from a fine dining experience.
The atmosphere was great, but I will not be returning here again in the...
