Late review - I had to write a bad review because that's the worst experience in my entire life. If I could give negative scores I would. came here during carnaval with high expectations as my friends and I were craving for Indian food. We waited for 2+ hours with no explanation or apologies in between. There was one waitress which was constantly standing in front of the cashier but didn't say a word to us. No water served, no utensils placed on our table, and the beers we ordered DIDNT COME AT ALL during the waiting time. I even asked the waitress to repeat our orders once again as she didn't take notes, cause I was worried that some orders might be missing!
When asked about the situation, she said there was only 2 kitchen staff, that's not something she could do about it. Very poor attitude. The whole restaurant was waiting and none of the tables got served food. Everyone looked grumpy and starved as you could imagine. The food was COLD when it was served. How was that even possible? We just ordered curry, with rice and naan, which should take minimal time to prepare. And in the end 2 of our friends left because their food was NEVER SERVED. My friend went to the kitchen to have a look and saw that there were food waiting outside but no one served them. I don't know what was going on with this restaurant the staff was on a strike or...
Read moreDisappointing food with outstanding drinks and fantastic ambience.
The lassi with cachaça is genius. The pink lemonade beautiful. The lassi on its own is outstanding.
Wonderful ambience - the decor, music and Indian art.
The food however is not up to scratch. Ordered the pork vindaloo and the paneer tikka thalis. Firstly its not authentic Indian. Though, even if I put that aside, the pork vindaloo curry and especially the dal is watery and do not ooze the taste of a typical vindaloo curry or dal. The paneer ticks the box for quantity though poor in quality. The biggest positive is the quantity and quality of the pork in the pork vindaloo. The gulab jamun for dessert was OK.
It's worth noting that the service was nice throughout. I had to send my pork vindaloo and dal back as it was cold and it was acknowledged and replaced accordingly.
It's nice to see a restaurant doing Indian as there are not many and even better to see so many positive reviews, though please note, if you are coming from India (or the sub-continent) then you will be severly upset with the food; likewise from UK you will be disappointed. My advice is to visit the restaurant for a drinks break during your visit...
Read moreLovely little place with decent food and good deals.
There's a very nice deal, where you can try a little of pretty much everything for close to R$50 (see pic attached), and then a deal on dessert+drink for about R$20. Definitely recommend those because with two people taking different choices you'll be able to try nearly the whole menu for cheap, ordering one of those combos each.
The food itself is good, not the best Indian food I've ever eaten but still enjoyable. It's understandable, because it's difficult to find some Indian ingredients in Rio.
The service was one of the best parts – we had a very lovely waiter who was super helpful with any questions about the menu, and the food came very fast.
The atmosphere is great, very cozy – it's on the top of the escadaria, so there isn't any crowd or noise around – although you don't have a view of the stairs due to the fence and the little garden blocking it.
Very much recommend to anyone looking to try Indian food for...
