Fogo de Chão Moema — Restaurant in Região Imediata de São Paulo

This will be a review more for British people like myself.

First of all I would like to say this is only a comparison based on english tastes and should not be taken in comparison of other such churrascaria restaurants in Sao Paulo. As I understand Fogo de Chao has the best reputation among them.

Positives:

All you can eat. Eat as much meats and sides as you can until you are full. No one can complain at that!

Very nice salad bar. Good selection for everyone. Maybe would have liked the asparagus warm rather than chilled but that is a very minor thing.

Staff are friendly and attentive. Really cannot fault the staff. Some of them spoke English quite well which was nice for a foreign traveller. All seemed to understand the basics.

Nice selection of beers and spirits, served very well.

Negatives:

All though the various cuts of steak was very tasty. I will say it it rather more chewier than good quality meat you would be used to in the UK. This is why I say this is for British English people and not others. Maybe other European countries. We are used to a lot softer meat with a lot less bite.

The salt... The meat was all very salty. A great selection of beef cuts and other meats. The lamb for example though was so salty I could not eat it. Again I am aware after spending a month in Brazil that this is how they like it. If you are British you may wish to ask the friendly staff to do a bit for you with less salt

The wine. A very large selection but nothing stood out as worth the price. Of course the majority of the huge selection is south american but I would have liked some more Italian and Spanish reds to choose from to go with steak.

My biggest complaint and it may mean nothing to some. The chips... we all know a steaks best friend is some good quality triple cooked chips. These were just very bad. For the level of restaurant this is the only thing I would make as a genuine complaint. They could learn a thing or two when it comes to chips.

Conclusion:

If you go to Fogo de Chao you will have a very nice evening with value equal to the quality and if you are British and open to the above you will find it a very pleasant experience. Don't be afraid to ask the staff for less salt on the meat as I am sure they will be more than happy to accommodate you. But please fix the chips! and maybe add a nice Chianti to...

I am a big fan of Fogo de Chão and normally would easily give a 5-Star rating. Unfortunately not this time... As I traveled from Europe and still in a different timezone, I felt hungry at 16:00 local time, so I was very pleased to see on Google maps that Fogo de Chão at Moema was open the whole day! When I arrived I was greeted with the hospitality I am used to. Waiters came by with my drinks and at regular intervals the meat was served at the table... Then, 45 minutes after I arrived, all the customers left and I was the only one left in the restaurant. Not only did the customers left, apperantly the meat servers left too! From this moment on I had to beg for more meat and all the hospitality I'm used to was gone as well...I understand that in Brazil people eat late lunches and late dinners. But, as a restaurant, don't pretend to be open all day and reduce service at non-peak hours. I haven't felt as not-welcome in a restaurant for a very long time. In the end I spent less than an hour in a place I normally spent 2 hours or more, ending up paying the same amount of money for half the meat and service I normally receive at Fogo de Chão. Very disappointed as a regular customer and very sorry to say that I will skip this place...

Fogo de Chao Moema (Obs: consta com update no final da análise)

Prós: Ambiente simples e relativamente pequeno, porém elegante e bastante agradável. Fomos jantar lá em um sábado por volta das 18:30, foi bem tranquilo de entrar e pegar uma mesa para 4 pessoas. Atendimento excelente, todos os funcionários que passaram pela gente possuíam um carisma incrível, todos muito simpáticos, eles fazem o máximo possível para que você possa ter um atendimento perfeito e rápido. A qualidade de tudo oq devoramos era bom, desde o buffet de salada até às carnes eram boas, ainda mais quando acertavam o ponto (oq era raro). +Achei a feijoada simples, mas bem gostosinha com foco no sabor do próprio feijão. +Adorei o queijo coalho com mel (mas sou queijomaníaco, então se vc não curtir muito queijo, talvez vc não goste.

Neutro: A casa possui um preço um pouco mais acessível para saborear a mesa de salada e um tipo de carne, que pode ser mais de seu interesse. -A casa possui Valet para quem pretende ir de carro.

Contras: 98% das carnes que passavam estavam muito mal passadas, se você curte aquela carne vermelha e cheia de sangue vc vai amar esse restaurante. E mesmo solicitando uma carne bem passada, eles possuíam uma certa dificuldade de trazer uma carne bem passada ou mesmo ao ponto, e acabavam vindo mal passada. Era muito raro eles acertarem o ponto da carne. -Pouca variedade tanto no buffet de salada quanto no próprio rodízio de carne. Alimentos como peixes, bacalhau, sushis, sashimis, ou mesmo salmão grelhado não estavam presentes no buffet, que são alimentos bem comuns nas churrascarias hj em dia até mesmo nas que possuem um preço ridiculamente acessível, o que não chega a ser um grande problema, ainda mais se o foco da casa for carnes de boi ou de porco, porém mesmo assim a rotatividade de carnes do próprio rodízio de carne é muito baixa, ainda mais considerando o valor do rodízio completo de 210 reais. Preço e benefício ruim para o rodízio completo de 210 reais, considerando outros rodízios de carne semelhante da região, este está longe de valer tal preço por conta dos pontos apresentados aqui no contra, porém como mencionado anteriormente nas avaliações neutras aqui, existem opções de preços mais viáveis neste mesmo restaurante.

Considerações finais: O Fogo de Chão é um ambiente simples, porém bem acolhedor principalmente por conta do excelente atendimento prestado pela casa, mas em questão de variedade de pratos, de uma forma geral achei que fica devendo bastante ainda mais se vc optar pelo Rodízio Completo. E acertar o ponto da carne parece ser uma tarefa um pouco difícil na casa, apesar de terem carnes de boa qualidade em mãos.

Voltaria novamente? Sim, possivelmente, mas não ao Rodízio Completo, pois particularmente para MIM, ainda mais considerando outros restaurantes do mesmo tipo e de preço aproximado está longe de valer os 210 reais.

UPDATE 19/01/24: Voltei novamente: não aderi ao Rodízio completo, paguei 115 pelo buffet+carne gourmet. Valeu muito mais apena, o ponto da carne que estava vindo para mim estava perfeito, do jeito que eu solicitava. A feijoada estava muito boa, o buffet me agradou bastante, no geral a experiência foi muito melhor e o preço bem mais justo. O ponto negativo desta vez fica pelo excesso de moscas no buffet q tava tenso.

Voltaria novamente? Com certeza, a minha última experiência foi bem melhor, com um preço mais justo, a carne muito boa no ponto que eu queria e o atendimento como sempre...
