People say you get what you pay for but in this case it is so much worse. Before writing this review, I had to think carefully about whether or not I wanted to admit to dining here. The lunch buffet opens at 11.30am. Even before this time there was a line of people waiting to get in and the line snakes around outside. The line is somewhat pushy. We were seated by a waitress and then told to move and move again. We were yelled at for sitting at a table we were told to and a staff member tried to get us to move to another table even though we had started eating. There is little respect and dignity. The food is of such low and poor quality. The prawns are tasteless. There is a lot of deep fried food that is so oily and fatty. You can tell it has been cooked in bad oil. I couldn't finish my spring roll. The desserts are sweet with no other flavour. Even the tea and coffee is weak. Even hours after I left, I felt so thirsty. Buffet 88 is not worth the fat and calories.

Ample parking on site just be sure to turn left immediately upon entry from Liverpool Street. Perfect buffet lunch for families, friends and solo diners. Staff readily seated me and as a solo diner I appreciated it. So much variety as can be seen on photos- do check them out. I feel I have found my favourite spot to spend Sunday lunch hours for a mere $32! I get pipis, crabs, prawns, fish, roast meats, various fresh salads ! Choice of desserts include osthmantus pudding, jelly, pavlova amongst cheese, chocolate and other cakes with optional cream and ice-cream. Happy with cappuccino as a choice from tea or other coffee. It’s now my second time to come here and I aim to arrive mid day to test veracity of some of the reviews. My experience has been that there’s plenty of food that get promptly replenished, tables are cleared in between by friendly staff who seemed happy with their jobs. I like the positive attitude and atmosphere 👍

paid $70 for 2 on easter sunday dinner, honestly the worst AYCE you can get. as you can see from the plates i took a small amount of everything to try them all out. just like what others have described. oily dull looking fried items. lamb smells super gamey. yucky fried rice. crazy salty dishes especially the satay chicken which i believed to have given me the toilet 🏃🏻‍♂️ twice last night as the last meal i had was breakfast before the sheet feed. ice cream 👀👃👅like chemical. parking was full last night. the place itself is pathetic compared to other clubs. just look at the bain-marie they use its from ancient times lol staff members were friendly & helpful tho. do yourself a favor, star buffet in bankstown is WAY BETTER for the same amount of money. pay like $4 more & you will get bottomless soft drinks. i will recommend NOT to every even think about coming to this sheet hole lolol

Definitely the worst experience I've ever had。On 17June 18:52, my boyfriend and me went to the Buffet 88, that’s the first time we visited. When we arrived at the entrance, there was a staff, he is tall, tan skin, with black framed glasses, and he started yelling, “No hat!No hat!” . Because my boyfriend has hair skin problems, he needs to wear a hat. And we didn't know that hats are not allowed there. I was a little disappointed with his attitude, I felt like he didn't need to yell, just say please take off the hat, that’s enough. He asked us to show ID with photo. We took out passports, he shouted“passport!” His face looked impatient! I don’t know why his reaction was so rude. He asked us to type our passport information into the computer. Because my boyfriend doesn’t know English, can’t understand him. I translate English to Chinese for my boyfriend, he shouted: “English!English!English!” I felt so uncomfortable with him but didn’t say anything. My boyfriend couldn’t understand his English, I tried to translate again, he was shouting : “English!English!English!” Again to us, I said, because he can’t understand English, that’s why I talk to him in Chinese. He said: “Learning ! Learning !” My feelings was like we are adults, not his kids, he is not qualified to yell us! My boyfriend is learning English, just need time to get progress! I said “ You are so rude, that’s discrimination!” He said: Maybe, if you don’t like you can go!!!” I was so shocked about his attitude and what he said! I wonder to know does he know what is customer service?what does customer’s experience mean to him? What’s his role in this job? What’s his responsibility for the job? Did the facility provide him a job training? That’s unbelievable and ridiculous! Australia is an immigrant country. There are many people from different countries live in Australian, combined by different cultures, and different languages. We cannot discriminate against any race and culture. As a staff who works at reception, he has to accept and welcome customers from all countries. A reception staff is the face of the facility. How can he yell the customer, if you don’t like, you can go!!! I wonder to know is he the manager or the CEO ? How come the facility allows staff perform like this? Employees are paid because of the presence of customers. If he discriminates against Asians and tells every Asian that they can leave if they don’t like it, how can he get paid? Unfortunately, a super...

I have read the reviews before going there today. Here is my opinion on it.

Mediocre food. It's mostly for Asian people hardly any proper food like lamb shanks. The beef and pork were just soaked in water or something and tasted real bad.

I ate: Beef - 3/10 I felt sick after, when I went to grab portions the meet tray was just filled with water? or oil.. or some sort of liquid. The gravy helped get the taste out but I felt sick after 2 bites.

Chow mien - 4/10 The Dim sums - literally store bought food you can find in a Tong Li Supermarket... and very small portions!

Chips - 5/10 could be better they were not crunchy (No seasoning such as Chicken Salt)

Seafood pipi - 7/10 Its like Pipi's you get at Chinese Restaurants

Potato's - -2/10 no seasoning it's plain boiled potatoes.. very disappointing.

Honey chicken - 4/10 not fresh tasted a little off

Fish cocktail - 2/10 not seasoned

Ice cream - 7/10 tasted most like a sorbet

Tiramisu cake - 8/10 wish there were bigger pieces

To conclude my family member was feeling sick when we left.

I guess its only good for Birthday Parties and as a catering service than an actual buffet :)

Overall my taste is picky, but a buffet is meant to have more than just Chinese food.

This buffet is aimed at Asian food it's not really open to other cultures...

Before you go calling me racist I am half Asian too.

You're better off spending the money at the Crown Buffet :)

P.S People leaving 5 stars... I don't think you have the right taste for...

STAFF ABUSED PREGNANT WOMEN!

The incident occurred on 9th December 2023 when we visited the restaurant for lunch. I used the tray to pick some dried crackers but accidentally dropped 3 pieces on the floor. But I had to leave it as I was not able to bend as I'm at 3rd trimester. Allegedly, one of the staff members - Sandy exhibited rude behavior and verbal abuse towards me, she said ‘ If you dropped it, you have to pick it up’. Then I told her that I'm pregnant and not meant to pick it up from the floor’ then she's responded and said ‘Why can't you pick it up because you're pregnant?’ in Mandarin. I felt that I was seriously offended and told my husband my husband came to the staff and asked her name, she then continued to blame me that I dropped the cracker on the floor and I need to pick it up, pregnancy is not the excuse in her mind. Then my husband and I  reported this issue to her manager. The manager applogised and said she will educate the staff. Despite the apologies, this incident and the rude staff has been  leaving me deeply upset and dissatisfied with the overall experience.

We have reported the incident to the restaurant management, but feeling that their concerns were not adequately addressed. So we're now thinking to bring attention to the matter through local...
