Victoria — Restaurant in Sofia City

This is a restaurant that has everything, offers many choices of many kinds of plates, has no particular style of cuisine. We had dinner twice there during the holidays. At first, we ordered two pasta plates for takeaway. Everything was fine apart from the waiter who was extremely rude and put pressure on us in an inappropriate manner to decide quickly because the kitchen would close. He said we could only get pasta and not a pizza because the kitchen would close. The food made us go back again to dine in, even though the staff was not very helpful and barely spoke any english. The second time I got a soup and some nuggets, they were fine, but my partner's carbonara was terrible. From the first bite we felt something smelly and bad tasting was in there and we concluded it was the bacon which has almost got bad but was put in the pasta no matter what. I am not saying it was rotten because we would have been in the hospital, but it was at the stage that it started getting bad and smelly. This is dangerous and not acceptable for a restaurant. I wanted to complain and return the plate (and that would be the right thing to do) but we concluded that it would be impossible to communicate in english such a complicated subject, so we decided not to eat it, pay and leave quietly. The fall of "Victoria" restaurants. When i first arrived in Bulgaria a couple of years ago, Victoria restaurants were amazing, great food, good service, always full. To my regret, Victoria seems to have lost of all its previous glory. We came to eat with my wife, and frankly left hungry and disappointed. First of all, we were offered to chose from 1 of its 2 menus... I dont know why we didnt deserve the sushi menu... The food wasnt great, not as described at all and even lacked ingredients that were described in the menu, when I mentioned it to the waitress she told me.. "at least half was good" ! Feels like a poor statement to a complaining customer.. Especially if you make them pay full price for a dish that had half the ingredients listed... The atmosphere wasnt great either, since we were close to the exit, the receptionist their kept arguing and yelling at other staff members for some reason. For 30 euro, we left hungry and very disappointed. We will not...

We were disappointed would be an understatement. As we walked in, it was very stifling since SMOKING INSIDE WAS ALLOWED. There was a company that was singing out loud in a disturbing way, apparently while/after getting drunk. Nobody was out there to welcome us, so had to look for the staff on our own and to ask the waiter for a table for non-smokers. While taking us to a different room, he warned us that we need to hurry up as the kitchen is taking last orders even though there was an hour and a half left until they were closing?! We sat down, two minutes later another waiter came up to us to take our order. Asked him for one more minute. That’s when he rolled his eyes and walked away while complaining ‘ah come on, the kitchen is closing!!!’. At this point we were so pissed off because of their disrespectful attitude, that we just left. Terrible service, unpleasant atmosphere, huge disappointment. Wouldn’t go back there...
