See .... …. Modest facade, but inside the restaurant is spacious, with large round tables, with a rotating center, just according to Chinese custom, to be able to share food from large plates; …. A varied menu, there is everything you can think of - from vegetarian to fish, through pork, beef, chicken and duck; …. The blessed garden also has a garden. Because it falls into a courtyard, it is not visible and we did not assume that the restaurant is so big; …. There is a small children's corner - a fence with carpet and toys for very young children; …. Aquariums with colorful fish; …. There were a lot of visitors - they obviously know this restaurant. ..........
Feel …. … Very good service - orders are served very quickly; …. The staff is polite and friendly, all wear masks, close on the nose - the most strictly implemented measures so far in a restaurant this year; …. The perfect crunchiness of the crispy duck; …. Not only did we eat a lot and even stay home, but with the bill they brought us a whole Milka chocolate! Usually they give you chewing gums with the bill.
Hear …. …. There was nice music, I even heard Beatles covers in a slow casual version; …. The staff consists mainly of Asians, but all speak excellent Bulgarian, and some better than many Bulgarians. ............
Smell .... …. Garlic, ginger, curry - all kinds of typical Chinese cuisine flavors; …. Leek in samosa with vegetables and curry; …. Caramel in caramelized bananas from desserts; … Sometimes it smells a little in the main hall from the kitchen cooking, but on the terrace there is no trace of it.
Taste .... There is nothing that is not tasty !!! Serious warning – for big portions and overeating!
…. Gyoza with chicken - crispy and fragrant! …. I already mentioned the crispy duck, I also add breaded chicken. …. Chinese salad - rice noodles, shiitake mushrooms, sesame seeds and dressing. .... Read moreI recently ordered takeout from Meng Fu Yuan 2, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Here’s a breakdown of the dishes I tried:
Sweet and Sour Chicken: The sweet and sour chicken was excellent. Even after the drive home, the chicken remained crispy, and the tangy, slightly sweet sauce was perfectly balanced. this dish is a standout even for takeout and one of my family favorites.
Fried Rice with Vegetables: The fried rice was delightful. Each grain was separate and fluffy, and the vegetables were cooked just right, maintaining their vibrant colors and crunch. The seasoning was spot on, and the rice had a subtle flavor that indicated it was cooked on high heat in a proper wok. It wasn’t greasy, which is a big plus for takeout.
Chicken Lo Mein: The chicken lo mein was delicious. The noodles were chewy and coated in a savory sauce that held up well even after being packaged. The chicken was tender, The portion size was generous, making it a satisfying main course.
Overall, Meng Fu Yuan 2 delivers delicious, well-prepared dishes that maintain their quality even for takeout. The sweet and sour chicken, fried rice with vegetables, and chicken lo mein each stood out, making my meal a thoroughly enjoyable experience. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to enjoy quality Chinese...
Read moreThis is one of the few Chinese restaurants in Sofia and like others, it is lacking a true feeling of a a Chinese restaurant. Though the price and service was okay, the food is lacking a real taste of Chinese, it may satisfy those who never ate real Chinese food before but those who did, will not like that much.
Our spaghetti was most probably cooked in the morning and re-heated before we are served, our Beijing duck was swimming inside sauce and our dumpling was missing ingredients.
Though the portion sizes were okay, you would expect more from a Chinese restaurant. The price levels are same with other same class restaurants in Sofia, expect around 60 BGN (30 EUR) for two people with drinks.
It is okay, just not a restaurant that would deserve a...
